If this is the last lace available in Halls Gap pick another town to stay in. Let me list the issues with this place.
The Security codes on the room locks are not refreshed between guest stays and could be guessed by a 5 year old. In fact they are they end in your room number. 
The description of the rooms on the website do not match the description in the booking confirmation. This led me to believe I had booked and paid top dollar for a better room than was provided. 
The Spa was filthy and had a bath ring around it. As this is also the shower we had to clean it before use as the managers are not on site and we’re not interested in fixing this when we called to complain. 
The room is advertised as having a fire place. The welcoming paperwork on the table even included fire lighting instructions however there was NO fireplace. There was a flame effect electric heater. Not what is advertised. 

In summary 
Don’t stay there. It’s not worth the disappointment.  

If this is the last choice in Halls Gap.  Stay in another town but not at the rocks

I have been reading a few of the reviews about The Rocks Apartments from a few years ago in the days before we came and to be honest I was a little concerned when I read reviews of the rooms being unclean. I was however pleasantly surprised. 

We had the 2 bedroom spa apartment for 2 nights over Christmas and Boxing Day. It was $300 overall for 2 nights, which I did not expect to find this time of year. The apartment was very clean and comfortable. The fully equipped kitchen has all you need to prepare meals. We bought a lot of our own food with us because we weren’t sure what would be open on Christmas Day. Luckily the general store in Halls Gap was open till 8pm so if you’ve forgotten anything you can easily buy it. 

The apartments are in a good location. It’s a few minutes drive from the centre of Halls Gap and well located from The Grampians National Park. 

The only downside was that Chris (the owner) wasn’t very communicative. I called him to advise that we would be there after hours so I wanted to know what the after hours check-in policy was. He was pretty abrupt and told me to check Expedia. When I checked Expedia it said to call the place directly to find out about after hours check-in. So I called Chris again. He didn’t answer, however he sent me a message about 15 minutes later advising of the after hours check-in process. It was a conversation that could have taken 5 minutes over the phone earlier. Also I had asked him the day that we came up if there was any towels and soap provided or do we need to bring our own. He didn’t answer me. There were towels and soap provided, which we found out when we arrived. Again it would’ve taken a second to reply to me saying that yes there are towels and soap. 

Overall we would definitely stay here again!

Great value for money

More than happy with Rocks Apartments.  We stayed in unit 1, which included the spa bathroom. There isn’t a negative I can find anywhere.  Everything was clean and spacious.  I even spent an enjoyable few mins chatting to a large roo outside the back door late in the evening.  (I’d seen their “signs” during the day and was hoping for such an encounter!). Bed was comfy.  In fact everything about it was! A short walk to the pub for a great meal, and short drive to the halls gap town centre.  Proprietors very efficient with emails and even a phone call prior to arrival to ensure we had all necessary information.
As I said, can’t fault it.

Can’t fault 

We stayed in Unit 4. Easy to locate. Convenient to amenities and close to town. Contrary to what we read in other reviews, Chris and Robert whom we dealt with are accessible on the phone especially the latter. Easy to talk to and very accommodating.
Strong smell of citronella  upon entering the room. We didn't mind it and think it is insect control. Mossies and beetles were found dead on the floors. Better them dead than me being bitten alive.

A brown doona cover had lots of stains. Looks like it really needed a wash.
Wifi wasn't working at all but Robert did explain to us Telstra is trying to fix it. With NBN being such a shamble, it is not their fault. There is wifi in Halls Gap town centre.


Good place to stay especially at $89 p/n although the promo photos do not truly reflect the place.

Easy to find, well located, bed was comfy. However the apartment was unclean. Cigarette butts left on the ground near entry, spiders everywhere, no light globes in bedroom. Not somewhere we would return to.

Has Potential

Awesome place to stay! Apartment clean and great provisions. Perfect location across from pub and walking distance to town. BBQ facilities and Lots of space for children to play. Will book again for sure!

Fantastic clean well priced apartments!

I wish I had read TA reviews before I booked this place. The owner clearly does not care at all about customer service. The only contact number supplied was for Mitre 10 in Horsham, and I managed to catch Chris there just before it closed on Friday afternoon to ask about the free wi fi included in the information supplied on Booking.com. He took my number and promised to text me the account name and password. Never heard from him. When no mobile contact number is provided, it's pretty clear he doesn't want to answer any queries. Combined with the lack of mobile reception this means you have no way of contacting anyone, unless you drive into town.This man doesn't deserve your money until he takes his service obligations seriously. Book elsewhere, there are plenty of better options.
