Genevieve was very accommodating when we had to shorten our trip at shortish notice. No penalties. Clean, roomy, well provided, we couldn't fault it. Shops minutes away, beach even closer. We were booked into a major hotel in the CBD for the last four days of our trip by others in our group,and couldn't cancel that. Much preferred Adair Cottage.

We booked in for two nights at Driftaway Villas while we were moving house.

Genevieve was fantastic from my first enquiries on the phone to turning on the air conditioning for us after a long day, packing up our home.

The villa we stayed in was very comfortable and clean whilst having everything you could possibly need for your stay. 

We were staying with our two dogs and we were enthusiastically welcomed. Fantastic pet friendly accommodation!!!!!!

There is a small secure yard with good high fences all the way around.

Genevieve & John were a pleasure to stay with and have made such a comfortable welcoming haven that we ended up extending our stay for an extra night as we were so very comfortable.

I would highly recommend Driftaway Villas. Fantastic pet friendly accommodation, a perfect base if travelling around the Cairns region, or even just for a weekend getaway.

It is in easy walking distance to Yorkeys Knob beach and local shops for any supplies. Lovely peaceful location.

Pet friendly haven

Up in Cairns for a weekend dog training seminar- very hard finding anywhere to accomodate a well trained dog ( what about the owners!!).
Beautiful  one bedroom villa, well appointed, private ,quiet, a perfect retreat after a hard days work ( it was hard! - the dog is almost unconscious !)
Clean, great value, would come back here in a heartbeat Dog or not!

Dog friendly paradise!

The villas are in at least three streets and not all together.   The unit was not in Best St but nearby which was in a great sheltered location.   Communication by SMS with the host was very prompt and excellent.   The unit was very well equipped, had wi-fi and a very interesting decor.     It had a driftwood theme and the artwork complemented this theme.   It is a short walk to the beach and there is some rainforest within a couple of hundred metres (fenced so no real access).   The beach is long and one section patrolled.   It looked as if stinger nets can be deployed in the marine stinger season.
    It is not far to the yacht club and "port" where people from cruise ships come via a tender.    There is a steep hill adjacent that gives the name to the location.       I would definitely stay there again if in Yorkeys Knob.

Well equipped unit with creative decor

My husband and I were looking for place we could go and stay with our dogs and we found the Driftaway Villas. 

Gen is a great hostess who sent emails, answered all my questions, sent us text messages and replied to ours very quickly and they were all done in a very friendly and courteous manner. You could not ask for better service from her. 

The unit we had was one of the 3 bedroom ones. It was a great place for the dogs as it is all tiled for them to come inside and has a wonderful enclosed yard outside that the dogs loved exploring. It was also great to know we could go out and not have to worry about the dogs escaping while we were gone. For the humans the lounge was very comfy, it had a full kitchen, 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom (which was quite spacious). 

The unit itself is on a residential street but you just walk to the end of the street, down a path and you're at the beach. We took the dogs for a walk down there every afternoon and they loved it. There is even an off leash area for them to run and play. It was so great to be able to do that with the dogs and then some back to the yard with a hose and the house with tiles which means we didn't worry about the dogs enjoying the beach and getting dirty. 

The only things we had an issue with was the lounge air-con was a bit noisy, the main bedroom doesn't have air-conditioning so we slept in the end room by putting two single beds together and there is currently no WI-Fi available (but Gen told me they are waiting for NBN so that will be fixed in the future). 

Overall though a great place to stay and we would certainly stay there again with our dogs.
