Feels a bit deserted with only a few hotel guests at the time we stayed. The staff tried to do their best to creat an atmosphere for us to celebrate New Year's eve.
Not the best 'Value for money' choice.

Off the beaten track

This is a brand new hotel in the middle of Meliquina Village (a small town 40 km from San Martin de los andes). 
We went there to have tea and were amazed by the view from the restaurant (enormous windows facing the lake)  with a fireplace and cozzy armchairs. 
The cakes were also great and the prices are very good. 
This is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the peacefulness of the Patagonia.

A brand new and excellent option to have tea

We had 4 great days at the Amancio and were very well looked after by the exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. The  hotel has a great location a few yards from beautiful Lago Meliquina and our room was excellent with a balcony overlooking the lake. We made full use of the good quality mountain bikes and kayaks free for the use of guests, and the hotel also has a spa, sauna and pool. The restaurant was also very good and Juan never tired of trying to teach us Spanish. If you like to stay somewhere with lots of shops and a wide choice of restaurants, then Villa Lago Meliquina is probably not for you. However, if you want to wind down in an excellent hotel in a spectacular location, then the Amancio is a great choice. Oh and I forgot to mention the world class fly fishing in the lake and local rivers.
