Not sure if I should give 2 or 3 stars, because 2 stars seems low, but unfortunately there were very basic things that were missing or could not be accommodated. But would like to highlight the praise first, the staff were nice, smiling and welcoming, the rooms and the hotel in general were very clean, the hotel is right in the center and easy access/walking distance to sights in Tirana, the breakfast was ok (however, we expected a little more - the selection wasn't very good) - eggs for breakfast were good, as you ordered and were served yourself - coffee had to be bought additionally. The reason for the two stars is unfortunately due to completely basic defects. At first our air conditioning didn't work but it was fixed, the light in our bathroom couldn't be turned off, quite a few light bulbs didn't work in the room itself, there was one day when there was no hot water and we had to take an ice-cold shower, when we asked the reception for more toilet paper we couldn't get any and we had to go down to a supermarket to buy it ourselves, the television didn't work (it worked for the first few minutes when you turn it on, then it loses connection). A shame as the hotel otherwise has a fantastic location and the rooms are well appointed. A single chair in the room will also do wonders, and because you were not allowed to eat in the rooms, the hotel could also offer to use the common area to eat brought food etc. rather than it only being used for breakfast, as the room was the only common area in the entire hotel. In addition, you should be aware that there are rooms where there are no windows, only a window in the bathroom.

Ambivalent experience

Modern, quite clean and tidy hotel.  Beds are very cofortable (i think visco).  All the staff are smiling and concerned.  It is also a cheap hotel.  The breakfast is not the best but it s ok.  highly recommend.

Perfect experience

I believe this hotel has been renovated since most of these reviews (check out booking.com for more recent ones). I stayed here for two nights and thought it was a fantastic value for the price. 

Rooms are modern, decent-sized, and have strong AC (it was 100 degrees in Tirana during my stay, so that was critical). Staff are super friendly, and offered me a coffee when they saw I missed breakfast and were happy to help me call taxis to Dajti Express and the main bus station. Location is super central, just minutes away from the main square and Tirana castle.

First please be aware this hotel has been extensively refurbished and modernised to a very high standard, I recently stayed there with 2 friends and the reason we chose Tirana was because we had Wizzair credits that had to be used, we chose the Hotel Europa because of reviews on Booking.com website,  we travel a lot and this hotel rates very highly with us, it's modern with fabulous rooms and the bathrooms have luxury fittings and power showers, breakfast is continental but great omelettes are cooked to order, the staff are eager to please and immaculately turned out, previous reviews on Tripadvisor are years out of date and should be ignored as they are 7 years out of date, refer to Booking. coms website for more recent reviews, thanks Europa hotel for a wonderful holiday and we look forward to a return visit

Recent short break

Horrible service with rude accommodations, very dirty rooms.. Found a comdom on the floor as the cleaning woman was cleaning.. Do not waste your time like I did! Although the lobby is gorgeous and all white do not let it sway you, the rooms are drab, the bathrooms
 get flooded with water etc.. Overall less than mediocre 

Worst place ! 

Hidden away in backstreets that are currently basically inaccessible by car due to roads torn up by roadworks, one must navigate piles of rubble to even find the hotel. Once in the rooms, the experience did not improve. Despite claiming to have internet in the rooms, it was only accessible in the lobby downstairs. The rooms had no shower cubicle and we even found exposed wires and uncovered powerpoints on the wall the shower head was on! Most things seemed to be held together with tape and the carpets in the hallways and on the stairs were always mysteriously damp. The whole place smelt musty and just feel depressing. The one caveat is that there is a Main Street very close by, so it's in quite a decent location. 

Depressing, expensive and unsafe

I stayed here as part of an Intrepid group tour.   The rooms vary in size and decor--some very plain, others with vibrant colors.  The hotel is not easy to find, and although the location is off-putting, it is an easy walk to the downtown area.   The staff are friendly, and generally helpful.  Breakfast is basic, served individually, not in a buffet style.  Wi-fi is not dependable in the rooms, but its free, and easily to access in the lobby.   There are also computers in the lobby.
