Whether your on your own or with a group and staying in ho chi minh, I cannot recommend anywhere more than this, I've stayed in a lot of hotels in my time travelling, but this is the best of the best. The staff are so kind and helpful, the dorms are so cheap and well designed and you can really tell this place is made by a traveller for travellers. Too add to how amazing the staff and room are, the rooftop bar is a great place for a drink after a long day exploring. It's so central to everything, even if you want to go further outside the city they are happy to book a grab bike or car for you. Fast laundry service. Two shops and coffee 30 seconds away. And a list of tours and things to do are readily available. When I return to saigon this will be the only place I stay!


THE BEST HOSTEL!!!!!! 

SOMETHING SO WOW just happened as of October 2017. The hostel has new owners and kind of breathtaking changes are happening: 1) the remodeled 8-bed and 12-bed dorms (from 15-bed ones, imagine!) have working spaces, 2) the 8-bed dorm has awesome beds (go and take a peek at the baggage and stuff compartments for each bed with new wooden dividers and lighting systems … whoa!), and 3) all newly-painted and remodeled private rooms. EVERYTHING IS REMODELED FOR THE SAME PRICING! And, of course, the great staff (front desk and maintenance) are still there! So, whatever disappointment the “old” Wanderlust Hostel-Saigon had (but none for me, really!), this remodeled/refurbished version really has something much more exciting to offer! As far as I have heard, Wanderlust Hostel-Saigon would come up with more splendid services in the very near future! Its proximity to all interesting places in HCMC is already a huge plus, so, surely, these changes would definitely up its game! I can’t wait to be back at Wanderlust Hostel-Saigon asap!

If you're looking for a cheap hostel and great location? You have to go to Wanderlust Hostel! You will get some great and friendly employees to help you exploring this big city! The rooms are very clean and it's quiet.

Perfect location with great employees

Stayed in this hostel for 6 nights in an eight bed dorm which was really nice and new. The dorm had one toilet and shower which were both maintained well. The beds were pretty comfortable and all have a curtain and locker. The rooftop bar is fun and a nice place to chill out in the evening. The staff are really funny, especially the woman who works on the bar (sorry I don’t know your name). The location is also really good and close to lots of food and drink places.

My only qualm would be that the staff sometimes seem a bit confused about beds and whether they are taken or not which could be cleared up easier with a better system BUT I think that it is a relatively new hostel so is still adjusting so it was impressive in that respect. 

Great hostel with friendly staff

The walls leading up the stairs are lovely and the lady receptionist was delightful it has a great location but water was leaking through the ceiling (2nd floor) the air con broke twice which meant the rooms were unbearable. The male receptionist was rude. Everywhere bar the hall walls were very run down. Maybe worth the price for 1 night but wouldn’t stay any longer than that. found other hostels priced similar that were far superior.

well, the signage is easy to find in the alley but you are surprise to see a local noodle store is actually at the lobby.  but the noodle is great, try it after you check in.  registration counter is super small, and the staircase is awfully high up.  there is no lift.  so this will stop you from going back to hotel all the time.  hahahahhaa.  

i love the art works along the stair ways.  you can enjoy it.  

the main reason for me to book this hotel is because of the low price and Roof top bar.  but i was disappointed about the bar.  seriously.  it is so run down and not worth spending time up there.

Stayed here for 1 night, having previously stayed in Ho Chi Minh elsewhere. We paid the same nightly rate in our previous hotel so expected the same standard, but that was not the case. Air con was so old and smelly, had to use a weak fan and was so hot all night.
Bathroom was dirty, as was the room. Looks like it hasn’t had a proper clean in years.
No storage space so bit of a pain with 2 big backpacks. Evening staff a bit rude, but morning staff helpful and friendly.

I wouldn’t call it a hostel as such, I didn’t see another person there the whole three days I was there. The rooms were decorated nicely and alothough they were TINY it done the job.. what was really unpleasant was the smell of the fish from the restaurant that was part of the hostel... although it didn’t seem like tourists were welcome there as not so much of a smile came from the restaurant/cafe/food stall staff. They also had a serious ant problem, I went into my back pack and pulled out a top, I’m guessing they must have like the material or something because it was covered with ants and their eggs. I can’t believe I almost forgot about the mouse! I jumped onto the bed and it ran out from under my pillow. So ridiculous! Apart from that, the receptionists were lovely and everything else was fine but I would give somewhere else a try!
