I stayed here for one night during my trip to Vietnam. This place was a solid building with a lot of charm about it. Ye olde world! It was simple, light filled, cool and very clean, and had all the amenities you would expect. The staff were excellent. Considering what I paid, it represented the best value hotel of my trip.

Value for money

If you want a place to stay the night, get laundry done, have a nice large room to get organized - this is the place. There is good A/C and even booked a bus for us to Ninh Binh. Price is cheap so good value.
The staff is nice and helpful.
A good resturant nearby! (Otherwise kind of nothing else around).

Good basic hotel

We checked in for two nights. Our first room, the air con didn't work so we were moved. The next room, we were told the aircon would make the room cold in 10 minutes. 5 hours later the room is still hot. We laid sweating for a while before raising the issue again as we couldn't sleep. We were moved to another room. The aircon unit showed the room temperature - 34 degrees. Waaaaay too hot. The temperature went down to 32 degrees and stayed that way until morning. After an uncomfortable night we decided to check out a day early. When packing, we noticed lots of little ants all over our bags and on the spare bed. The rooms are clean enoug and bathrooms are ok but the shower is not the best. The owners were nice enough about the problems we had and tried to help but in 40 degree heat, you book a room with aircon for a reason! Quite difficult to explain the problems we had as there was a slight language barrier. We wouldn't stay again. 

Better options available 

We stayed for one night and were very pleased with the friendly staff. The room was clean and the hot shower was the strongest we've encountered so far. On the next day we checked out and went on the Halong bay trip and had to leave to Sapa in the late evening. The owners let us stay in a room until our bus came - free of charge! You should definitely choose this hotel if you want to experience authentic Vietnamese hospitality!
