Spur of the moment trip had us staying here on a Saturday night. The rooms are basic and yes this is an older motel .  
The rooms are clean, the staff is helpful and one feels secure here.  Plus you can walk anywhere and never need to drive. 
 Most places require a 3 night minimum.   We only stayed 1 and paid a little more than I am guessing that most pay.  With the location and security, it was worth it 


One night 

We just stayed here this past Sunday.  The staff was very friendly and accommodated our last minute stay.  Our room overlooked the beach/ocean which was beautiful.  Only so so part the street noise.  Pet friendly for small dog as well, our little pup loved going out on private balcony and watching all the people.

Reasonable 

The View is one of my favorites,just can't stop looking at the ocean,so Beautiful . The price for the room was deceit,we came on a budget and we are very happy 2 days 2 nights free wi fi its a little run down but you get what you pay for ,i would return just for the View!!!

Please read all the other reviews for this motel...they are basically carbon copies of what I came here to say.  Decor from the 70s, only because they're too cheap to renovate, NOT because they want it quaint.  Locks on the doors are VERY old, they're key locks, and the doors are not very secure, even with the deadbolts thrown.  

The rate we paid was $110 per night, which, according to my production manager, was a steal, with other properties wanting more than $350 per night.  As one other reviewer said, if it had been $40, I'd have said, "Yeah, okay, this is a $40 room."  But with the peeling wallpaper, the disgusting mildewey grout (where there actually IS grout that hasn't dried up and peeled away), the towels you can literally see through, and the buckling wall paneling from the 70s that's been painted over, this place is almost the worst room I've stayed in anywhere in the world.

The bedspreads look like they haven't been washed since the 70s.  Sheets are pilled, pillows are completely worn out, beds are horribly uncomfortable.

However...the floor in my room has newer actual tile, albeit poorly laid, and the floor seemed clean.  In fact, though everything is disgusting from not having been replaced in at least 40 years, you get the feeling that housekeeping is actually trying...just not very hard.

The motel office is full of curt signage borne of years of dealing with jerky spring breakers...from the requisite "no public restrooms" to "no change for the parking meters" to "checkout promptly at 10am, late checkout $20 per hour."  The office people were nice enough, but by no means friendly.  They did give my production manager two extra pillows.  I piled the four that were in my room to make one acceptable one.

Now...if all you care about is a place to sleep and take a shower, and you haven't been spoiled by years of clients putting you up in 4- and 5-star hotels, then this place will be fine for you.  And it was fine for me, too, but I felt obligated to let people know that in the high season (we were here August 5 and 6 2016), you're going to pay a premium price for a very, VERY ragged room.

I'm not a party guy, but the motel is right on Ocean Blvd., which according to the ear-deafening, body-vibrating music emanating from every passing car until 11:30 each night, appears to be a hip, happening place.  The mexican restaurant Bandito's is right across the street, and it's nice.  There are all kinds of other hotels, resorts and restaurants around this area.  My room, #206, has a balcony and a view to the beach right across the street.  A short 2-minute stroll and you're in the ocean.  So that's nice.

The free Internet was a little dodgy at times, but hey, free Internet.

One final thought, and it's a big plus.  The rooms (I was in two of them) didn't smell of mildew, my non-smoking room didn't smell like smoke, and they don't use that "this room is clean" chemical that so many other places use.  That's HUGE for me, because I'm very sensitive to that stuff.  That tells me that housekeeping keeps their mops clean, and (as I said above) tries very hard to stay ahead of the crumbling infrastructure here.  So that's a big plus for me, and why I gave it two stars instead of just one.

Bottom line:  if you have no other choice, it's okay to stay here.  Just don't expect that $110 will get you what it gets you in many other places.  $110 gets you a $40 MOTEL.  As long as you come with that mindset, you'll be fine.

Threadbare, old and tired, nice view from some rooms

We stayed here during a busy time in Myrtle Beach.  All of the hotels had jacked up their prices,  as did this place.  It was $155 a night which would normally get you a very nice room. Since every other place was charging $250+  we had to stay here. It literally hasn't been maintained or updated since probably the 1970s and not in a nice,  charming way.  In a cheap,  unacceptable way.  The 40 year old wallpaper is peeling off the walls in sheets.  They are too lazy to just peel it all off.  The pool has no chairs or tables whatsoever. The shower curtain is like a disposable cheap trash bag.  No exaggeration. I don't think I've ever done a bad review,  I'm usually very positive,  check out my other reviews.  I almost always prefer smaller,  family owned places.  But this was just unacceptable.  Especially for the jacked up rate. Soooo mad that whatever was going on in MB forced us to pay $150+ a night for the worst motel room I've ever stayed in, and I'm no prima donna. Makes me not want to visit MB again if that's what they do.  I can see paying a little more during peak but there wasn't even anything major going on.  This is a $40 a night motel.  I wouldn't be complaining if I'd only paid $40. If they jack up their prices again and you have to pay the $150+ here, trust me,  just spend the $200+ somewhere else,  anywhere.
