Lake Lure

Condo was spacious and spotlessly clean. We had unit 15 which had amazing views down the mountain of Lake Lure. There were a lot of stairs, 29 just to get to the front door from the parking lot and the bedrooms were on 2 different floors, the living area on yet another floor. It was great for privacy but plenty of stair workouts. The linens and bedding were good and the matresses were comfortable.   They did not supply sufficient toiletries and what was provided was  yuck. They also expect you to replenish your own toilet paper, paper towels and dish soap and to strip beds and bag laundry at end of week. That seemed a bit much.  Overall the experience was good but there is room for improvement from a management perspective.  We did see bears in the parking lot. That was pretty exciting.

Fun in the mountains

Do not stay here.
We were here two years ago and it was terrible. We were told the condos were renovated. While the couch and chairs and downstairs bath were , that is all! We were met by the largest live roach ever! The others were dead. The whole condo smelled musty so musty in fact we lasted two days and stayed with friends. The pantry door fell off when first opened. The washer/dryer was rusted and would not stay opened. The walls are in desperate need of painting. Because the master bedroom is 19 stairs down as is the big bath it is almost impossible if you have any problems and there are no hand railings for the large tub at all! The closet is scary! These are the high points! This resort should not be in Interval International at all!
I tried to call office which was not opened. As I said , do not waste your money or points or week!

This is the second time we went there. Our first visit was two years ago and it was bad. Still horrible. We lasted three

Given the mixed reviews we were a bit apprehensive, however we found it very enjoyable.  Bug free with comfortable furniture and beds.  Well equipped kitchen.  If you are expecting a traditional five star hotel you might be disappointed, but for a large two-bedroom condo surrounded by the woods it is exceptional.  We utilized an Interval timeshare exchange. One caution, if steps are a problem be sure to make arrangements with customer service for a unit not requiring stairs to enter.  Everything but master bedroom and hot tub are on the main floor.  One of the units did not properly deal with their garbage and animals spread it over the road and on both sides.  I called security and it was very promptly and thoroughly cleaned up.

Very comfortable, clean,  and bug free.

Spent a week at Fox Run at the end of September.  Accommodations were spacious and comfortable.  We stayed in a 2 bedroom unit at the very top of the resort overlooking the 5th green of Rumbling Bald golf course.  Unit was clean, well equipped, and WIFI worked great.  Check in was easy, even though it was located a few miles from the resort itself.  Loved the pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room, and exercise room.  We also ate once at the onsite restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed the view of the lake while enjoying dinner.  I wouldn't hesitate to return and stay at Fox Run again.

Outstanding Stay!

We had a two bedroom unit # 302. Nice view and nice but dated furnishings. Good assortment of kitchen supplies. We did not use any amenities of the resort. 
I thought the lower floor bedroom was damp and cold. The shower door in the downstairs bath allowed water to splash out. The washing machine often did not start without unplugging and replugging. The management did not take my complaint seriously. Really??

Pretty location and some updated features.

We received a wonderful 2 bedroom cabin with a fireplace and two decks.  No bugs or critters inside.  It is also very clean.  We like it a lot.

The location is remote and difficult windy driving especially at night.

Way better then all the negative reviews

Great stay at this resort! Updated and refurbished. All the amenities were first rate. Lake side Restaurant outdoor dining has a great view of Lake Lure and the food was delicious too. Staff was friendly and attentive. Take the tour of the lake and get a good history lesson of the area be a friendly Captain.

Rumbling Bald Mountain Resort

Fox Run Resort is located in the beautiful mountains of Western Carolina. The scenery in the area is a wonderful backdrop for the resort. The golf course was well maintained. Two issues created the average score I gave the resort. At check-in, the personnel were moody. I gave them a free pass since this is the "Summer of COVID-19.  The two bedroom Villa was nice. However, the upstairs was continuously HOT! I contacted Resort Services and inquired about an oscillating fan or box fan. They said they did not provide fans. Their suggestion was to close the metal blinds to keep the sunlight out. I told them we did this from day one and have kept them closed everyday. The dormer window was inaccessible so sunlight came in during daylight hours. I asked if the manager could do something and they said no. They offered no suggestions either. The business of a resort is to provide customer service and hospitality. This staff gets a big zero!

"Villa Temp Too Hot!"

Stayed in a condo at Rumblingbald Resort (Foxrun) over the Christmas Holidays. We thoroughly enjoyed the condo, resort amenities and curtious staff.  Condo furniture and appliances are very dated but functional. Close to tremendous outdoor activities including Lake Lure and Chimney Rock. The very large Ingles grocery store is approximately six miles from the resort and is stocked with every essential item you may need.  There is a small convenience store about two miles from the resort as well.  We will definitely return during the summer months to take advantage of warmer weather and Lake Lure activities.

Nice Stay

My daughter and I stayed at this resort during our visit to the area and Asheville, which is about an hour's drive from here.

The check-in location is in a different spot from where the actual condos are; it's about a 10 minute drive (3.4 miles) between the  two. 

We had a 2-bedroom unit and we had plenty of space to spread out!  Having a kitchen was great, because when it's evening and you are not in the mood to drive the twisty roads that abound in this region, it was nice to stay and have dinner in our condo!  Just be sure to stock up on groceries from the Ingles Market, which is about a 20 minute drive from the resort.

The unit was in good condition and clean.

We had a wonderful week!
