Lake Lure

The location was lovely, great scenery. It's a little spread out, to get from the unit to the other facilities (pool, restaurant, work out etc) requires driving. I found the road signage within the the complex a little confusing regarding which was the main street, side streets, and unit turn-offs, so be aware especially if arriving after dark. Provided good instructions for grocery stores, etc, although in todays age of GPS they should include actual addresses you can input to the smart phone.

Beautiful Location, A Little Remote

We enjoyed our visit to Fox Run Resort.  January probably isn't the best time to visit with the lake drained and the outdoor pool closed, but the mountains are beautiful and the unit was very nice.  We'll be back!

January Trip

Unit was big enough for 8. Master bedroom downstairs. Guest was on main level with 2 full beds. Master bath had a stand up shower and a jacuzzi tub. Guest bath was standup shower. Had a fireplace but you need to bring dura logs to burn only. Kitchen was well stocked. Kitchen table seating was for 6 and 2 barstools at bar for seating of 8. Livingroom had 2 recliners which was comfortable.  Tvs are 40 in. No dvd player. Just a radio. Has washer and dryer on main level.

Christmas vaycay

Pleasant surprise to arrive to such a spacious and well stocked unit.  Beautiful views from our private balconies.  Mountain driving can be difficult but so worth it.  Will definitely be back!  Not many restaurants in the area so be sure to stop at a supermarket before settling in.   

Peace and quiet in the beautiful mountains

The accommodations were musty and outdated. Any activities our family wanted to do cost extra. Far away from any attractions. Could not/did not provide a crib or pack n play for the baby. We had to drive 35 mins away to Walmart to purchase one of our own.

Old, musty, outdated,

We had booked a 2 bedroom unit for a week. I called ahead and asked about proximity to Asheville. I was assured that it was a 20 minute ride. When we arrived at the “resort” the “ welcome center” was a construction trailer 3 miles off the property. The roads were winding and up a mountain, no lights, no guardrails. The “ resort” is actually the back 3 buildings of another resort ( that has a beautiful welcome center on property). Arriving at the unit it was apparent it had not be updated in a while. There were multiple dirty dishes in the cupboards. There’s a fireplace that you are not allowed to use but also cannot close the vent on, allowing very cold air in. Of the 2 bedrooms, one was in the basement and had a heater. This was the main heat for the entire place. To get the unit warm enough however meant that the bedroom was unable to be used as it was too hot. The other bedroom was for a couple( I made it clear that we were 2 couples when I booked). It had twin beds and a draft that would not go away. 
The pools and golf courses advertised were in disrepair and closed. The biggest issue however was that, in order to get anywhere required a 45-60 minute drive over narrow, treacherous, poorly maintained mountain roads that were very winding and unlit. This made it impossible to be out after dark (5:00). The one good thing I can say is that the mattresses and pillows were extremely comfortable! The area and “resort” were so bad we left Monday for a VRBO in Asheville — 5 days before our check out date. No one at the check out desk bothered to ask why we were leaving or if there had been any issues. I’ve traded into a lot of places and this was the worst I’ve ever seen!! You couldn’t pay me to return. 

Deceptive and shabby

Always enjoy staying by Lake Lure.  The resort is well maintained and easy to navigate.  There are so many enjoyable options on site, as well as, traveling to nearby locations.  We spend a lot of time in Asheville.  

Beautiful resort and perfect lake location

This resort is beautiful, but our unit, though clean over all, was dated and needed many repairs. Views of Bald Mountain were lovely and the surroundings peaceful. We would return to stay in a different unit. 

Foxrun #301 Needs Repair

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Lake Lure, NC.  The location was quiet, peaceful, and beautiful country in the NC mountains and close to the Lake.  Our unit was a 2 bedroom with a really nice master suite and bath with washer and dryer across the hall, efficient kitchen with bar, living area complete with sofa, 2 recliners, and a fireplace, dining area was separate.  An outside deck was accessible from the living and dining area and a separate deck was accessible from the master bedroom on the lower level.  The second bedroom has access to the second bath, which could also be accessed from a hallway.  This bath could have used an update, though, but very functional.  This was a multi level unit in case someone does not want the stairs, though at 73 it was not a problem for me as I travel with my daughter.  Outside was a really nice common area with covered shelter and BBQ grill.  Though we never used it, our neighbor used it several times.  We would definitely go back again.  

Lake Lure NC

The location is the most beautiful part of North Carolina I’ve seen. Lake lure has so much to offer for all ages. My condo is home away from home very up to date will all amenities and the most wonderful workers.
