My husband and I have just come back from two nights winder get away to The Driftwood Hotel .
The location of the hotel is spectacular even in winter as it outlooks gardens, beach and the massive expansive sea !
The hotel is very comfortable and homely .
The staff are kind , friendly and professional and take pride in their jobs.
We had room 2 in the main house which had 3 windows to enjoy the views .
The chef produced delicious breakfasts & dinners for us ( we ate in both nights which was perfect after a day out walking and exploring the local towns .
We would highly recommend and hope to return to enjoy The Hotel in the sunshine too .

Relaxing hideaway 

I went with my friend for afternoon tea. It was absolutely amazing! The hotel has such a cozy, relaxing, peaceful ambiance. The owners are really good with the interior design. The views are stunning, the food was great and the whole team really friendly. The journey was definitely worth it. We will be back 😊

Afternoon tea

Stayed here for two nights as we ticked off walking the South West Coastal Path from St Anthony to Portloe. Perfect location with views to match. The dinner was spectacular and breakfast wide ranging and delicious. The service was impeccable and so friendly. Will be back.

Dreamy Location

We will absolutely be coming back to this hotel. Staff, service, views and food were all perfect, thank you! We had a really excellent dinner, the wine list was interesting and very well done. Breakfast plentiful and very good. We were sorry to be only staying one night - would recommend for a couple of days to thoroughly unwind or for a special treat.

Very special place and a fabulous stay

Gorgeous hotel.  Beautiful location.  Friendly, helpful staff.  Really lovely restaurant with amazing ambience and beautiful views.  Expensive though and the menu doesn’t change if you’re there for a week. Bathroom small. Bed very comfortable. GREAT!!!

Lovely Hotel in idyllic position - we’ll be back!

We had three restoring nights here with our two girls during the February half term. I had discovered it through Mr & Mrs Smith, which stated that the hotel was family friendly - as it happened we were the only guests with young children for most of our stay but were made to feel so welcome. Room 7 is ideal for a family of 4, and has stunning sea views. The hotel is comfortable, stylish, welcoming, and the food and wine list excellent. Service is five star with plenty of special touches. Best scones I've ever eaten! Gorgeous decor. A special hotel that I hope to return to.

Special hotel, beautiful location

Driftwood has the most magnificent position on the cliff top with views to die for. The room, a family room with 2 bedrooms was perfect, the staff were friendly without being obtrusive and the food was excellent.
Having previously stayed at The Nare further back along the bay  I can honestly say that the views are better and the ambience a little less stuffy!!

An absolutely brilliant 4 nights in this boutique hotal

Another great stay at this calm and peaceful hotel. As you can see it is set directly above a cove with gardens down to the pathway to the beach.

The bedrooms are fairly standard but decorated in light colours and feel fresh and bright. Some are larger than others and some have better views. A few have an outside terrace. Bathrooms are adequate with a shower over the bathtub. 

The food is excellent and breakfasts are perfect.

The staff are professional but also friendly and  cheerful. 

Easy to get a taxi to St Mawes and a gentle daytime walk to Portscatho.

A lovely hotel - wonderful food and views

We stayed at the Driftwood for 5 nights at the end of June and once again enjoyed a fantastic holiday.

We booked one of the superior sea view double rooms on the ground floor (so there is a small outdoor patio area which a couple of sun loungers). The rooms are cosy with just enough room for a single chair in the corner and a TV but the bed is very comfortable. There is also a nice bath / shower. Having said that I do think that the room would benefit from a little TLC in the near future.

As has been our experience during all of our stays, the food provided by Aaron McNamara and team was fabulous as was the service.

Its a lovely place to stay - it effectively has it's own beach just a few minutes walk down the coastal footpath or you can walk down the road to Porthcurnick beach which is c10mins (you will also find the Hidden Hut located here which is great for lunch).

It was great to see Guy who continues to bring a smile to everyone's face in the dining room whether at breakfast or dinner and who provides such wonderful service.

We did also dine at Tavola (they have a simple offering being pretty much just pizza with beer/wine but their pizzas are fab) and the Plume of Feathers (wholesome pub grub which was ok) - both are located in Portscatho. 

A lovely few days holiday and we very much look forward to our next trip in 2023.

Another great stay

After travelling around for three weeks, staying max. 3-4d at one place we traditionelly love to close our holiday with a whole week in one place. This Hotel was a perfect choice, very friendly and caring staff, the view cannot be beaten, and the rooms are decorated with much effort and passion. This summer was very hot, and that is why I missed an air condition although I deeply understand that it is presumably not necessary during average summers…..the children in the standard room hat even more problems to get air into the room because the windows were only to open a little bit compared to our superior room. Wardrobe is small, bathroom too, a minibar would have been wonderful at these temperatures. A very lovely detail is the morning tea/ coffee service at your room- very very nice. Most other guests stay a few nights only to dine I guess- and there is no Restaurant or Bar within a short walk ( Portscatho can be reached by a 30min Walk in the coastal path, beautiful!), and driving takes more time due to small roads. St. Ives is >1hour Drive- if heading north, the ferry is hardly to avoid. Breakfast was extraordinarily good with one exception ( change of Chef?), Avocado on sourdough bread was only cut in rather big pieces ( in contrary to the days before), and just thrown on the bread with the egg, two crumbles of feta next to it- after the three days before I was surprised and disappointed. Next morning it was well prepared again.
We had three dinners, the second with ordered lobster really good, every time we had to choose a wine by ourselves due to lack of sommelier skills in service who besides this was always ambitious and caring. We are familiar with michelin starred restaurants, and I think some of the dishes here are close to scratching one star- but in my opinion even at this level there is the need of training service staff about the wine card.
We enjoyed our stay very much although one must admit that the price would lead to expect more comfort which in my eyes was acceptable since compensated by a huge amount of warmhearted kindness, cosyness and notable passion. Thank you, dear Team, for a wonderful family week!
