After a not so good stay in November,  I spoke to manager Beth and she gave us a partial refund and the option to book again with discount and upgrade.

We decided to give it another go,especially since our family have spent a lot of time here, holidaying and fishing and Beth really did go out of her way communicating with me by email to make sure we got what we wanted this time. 

This time was perfect! We stayed in a cedar spa lodge, 2 double bedrooms both with en suite and a hot tub. 

Although smaller than the usual lodges we have booked, they were more modern,
newer, cleaner and brand new hot tubs. Free WiFi and everything you would need for a self catering stay. 

Had a couple of tiny issues with heating and hot tub but one phone call and they were there to sort it within minutes.

Yes, I totally agree with some of the reviews that some of the older locges are in desperate need of an update, especially looking at the cost of some of them but if you give them a chance to rectify this and listen to your concerns then I'm sure they will do their upmost to come to a solution. 

I work bloody hard for my money as Im sure everyone else does in this cost of living crisis and am the first to complain when I dont get value for money, but credit where credits due, as soon as I complained, the manager Beth went out of her way to make sure things were rectified.  

Landal need to realise though that there's only so much that the lovely Beth can do and they really need to start spending some money on their older lodges and the horrendous pot holed road getting in and out of this place because people will start looking for better sites for their hard earned money which would be an absolute shame as this could be an amazing site with just a little bit more time and  money spent on it.

Better stay

We stayed at landal woodland lodges last week and I have given it a 5* rating however this is the rating I would give after being moved from lodge 50 (lime water spa) if we had stayed for the duration in our original lodge I would only be giving a 1*. I don't want to dwell on the original lodge we were allocated because as soon as i highlighted the issues, Jess in customer service was amazing and had us moved to one of the newer lodges within an hour, however I think it is important to highlight that this lodge no50,  needs refurbishing, the sofa in particular was not acceptable and not fit for use with stains all over! The outdoor furniture was covered in birds poo as was the decking area, the bed was not comfy and it just generally felt in need of a makeover. 

We moved to lodge 116 which was perfect, clean, modern and so much more comfortable. It was well equipped, the bed was comfy and the hot tub was fantastic although could have been more maintenance over the week. The facilities around the lakes was lovely and was a fantastic location near to a local pub and a short cab ride in to thirsk. 
Jess made our stay great by listening to us and moving us to a better lodge, she is an absolute asset to the park with her friendly and welcoming manner. We would definitely return to one of the newer lodges but not to one of the older ones unless we knew they had been refurbished.


Chilled Week away 

Absolutely amazing holiday! Lodge was spotless, it was cosy and everything worked which for me never happens when i go to a lodge! Had the best week’s night sleep in a long time and felt refreshed! Staff were amazing and lovely and couldn’t be more helpful, they dealt with frozen lodges the best they could and were non stop working to keep the place safe! The swimming pool was also spotless and really lovely! Will 100% be back to cedar lodge!

Amazing place! We stayed in the brand new  Kinder Spa and the lodge was spotlessly clean along with the hot tub. Very well presented and beautiful complex. The staff are extremely friendly and polite and will go out of their way to help you. Highly recommend!! 



Amazing Kinder Spa Lodge!

On reading some of the poor reviews, I was so surprised to find an absolutely lovely site, clean and well equipped accommodation. The hot tubs are amazing. Clean, warm and great fun. The staff could not be more helpful (we didn’t have high chair in the property when we checked in, a quick pop to reception and it was delivered in minutes. No issue at all with that).  The pool is immaculate. This is not 5 star luxury, the site is quite new and not fully finished growing (you can tell). But as an awesome base for lovely parts of North Yorkshire, with very reasonable priced, basic but clean accommodation - what more are people expecting for this price point! It is brilliant value. Also the distance between the plots is generous, so it never feels too busy/crowded. We were here for New Year’s Eve and it was really quiet and calm. You’re not going to get 5star highly polished luxury, but you are going to get a fab, safe, clean holiday for families.  The only feedback I would give is they need to crack in with upgrading the beds in some of the properties. The mattress does not fit the beds, making them a bit unstable/uncomfortable - a little in the flimsy side. But kitchen, shower (powerful!!), towels, living space, lovely spacious deck and hot tub - all fab. I’ve left such a detailed review because I think some of the bad ones are really nit picky. This is exactly what you would expect, for the price point - and good value.

Lovely holiday, clean, very friendly, great basic base

We stayed here for a long weekend and had a lovely break. There is lots for children to do on the site but it still has a quiet, relaxed feel to the site. 

I can't really complain about anything other than check in / out times. I've stayed at many of these type of parks before and never known check in being as late as 4pm. It feels like you lose the first day and 9.30am is very early for check out. 

Great break but check in/out times needs to change. 

Absolutely beautiful cabin, was a lovely break. The surround is beautiful with the lakes and cabins but the disappointment side is was no internet or service inside the cabin which was disappointing and no Wi-Fi. I do also have to say check in at 4 isn’t too bad but check out at 9.30 is such a shame, you pay a lot of money and essentially can’t enjoy the night before due to having that early of a checkout, I’d check ins so late why is check out so early? Would only come back if cheaper option was available.
The Harvey’s bar was also brilliant and decent priced! 

9/10 - shame about check out time 

First impressions were WOW. Lovely place, clean and well maintained. Was then informed of a 4pm check in which we hadn't heard of, was told it would have been in a non existent welcome text. Never mind, we thought we would try the food in the cafe which was very nice but expensive. As a family we did appreciate very much the assistance given to help us as a family down to our lodge as a member is registered disabled.We had lodge 18 which on 1st impressions was not bad. The sitting room couch however was anything but comfortable and left us all with mega back pain. We enjoyed the private hot tub but towards the end of the trip the temperature dropped in it. Guys did come and look at it and on our last night a young lad said he would come and put some hot water in but never appeared. We were also hoping to try the spa treatments but was told it was closed, fair enough with the time of year but this should of been explained on check in as well as reduced opening at the cafe, the menus still advertised a 7pm closing. To sum the experience up would I go again, yes I would.

Lovely place, few problems

We stayed 4 nights mid week,potholes must only be in certain parts as u didn't see any bad ones,yeah they are caravans not wooden lodges but it was clean and good location,we stayed by 1 of the lakes which was great for the llad as he loved the ducks,pool.was good 2 bars and a nice cafe with a play area for the young ones,I personally couldn't fault it staff great too

Lovely comfy lodge, hot tub big and ready to go, checked daily. Dog friendly. Kitchen good and bathrooms decent. Water did go off but got a text saying it was Yorkshire water! Used the pool once, kids loved it, nice and clean, better than Haven. Nice for a quiet break, zero entertainment. Sports bar with 1 pool table which the kids loved, maybe get a few more? Good location for walks and activities, nice scenery. Great value I'd say.
