We have just spent 5 nights at YOFI 2 nights on our own and then 3 nights joined by our kids, we rented out Otters Lodge. What an amazing experience we had. Otters lodge is a large 2 bedroom 2 bathroom attachment to the pub itself with views of the river from every window. It is tastefully decorated and everything that you need has been thought of. Spotlessly clean, really comfy and well stocked for everything self catering even down to milk in the fridge. It was perfect for our family as we explored the local area and visited family, we didn't want to leave! The pub is just gorgeous, delicious food/wine/beer and Jamie the owner has created something very special. Staff were professional and friendly a big shout out to Linda who is fab and of course Jamie himself who was so friendly and welcoming to us.

A slice of heaven in the Wye Valley.

Looking for somewhere we could park and get a quick bite before walking along the Wye. Although a Bank Holiday (and we hadn’t booked), there were tables free outside in the spring sunshine and we were made to feel welcome.

Good food, and prompt and service. The outdoor area, bar and loos were all very clean and the mainly young staff were attentive, polite and friendly.

Friendly and welcoming

We called here for lunch on our way to Wales. Lovely pub and very friendly staff. Sat in the room overlooking the river which was extremely high after recent rain. We shared a Farmers platter with a bowl of chips, excellent and plenty for 2. Would recommend.

Superb meal and service for our walking group of 22. Feared it would be slow as ordered on the day from the full menu but no out in 2 hrs! Excellent risotto, burgers and venison cottage pie. Yummy lemon tart, sticky toffee pud and rice pud. Merry Christmas!

Group booking, expertly dealt with

Rude and abrupt staff member letting it down for all the other friendly staff. We went for a drink and were greeted with a rather passive comment about not booking a table on a Saturday (we only wanted drinks and most pubs accept walk in for drinks!) Our friends arrived later and were told “judging by the look of them they’re over there” when asking where we were sat to meet us. Very rude. We were then told the table was reserved and we needed to move, which we were happy to do but requested some assistance booking a taxi. To which we were told “you’ve got no chance you better start walking”… ah yes very helpful a group of girls are definitely going to walk home in the pitch black along the busy A40! Another member of staff then found us a table to sit at when we were waiting to book a taxi (which we were able to do despite being told it was impossible). The younger bar staff were very friendly and helpful and gave us a taxi service that we managed to use, however the one older man was extremely rude and passive aggressive, belittling us for no good reason as soon as we walked through the door. Very disappointing

We can't recommend the Ye Old Ferrie Inn enough. We stayed in the Otter Lodge for 4 nights and had an amazing time. The location of the Inn is stunning with views up and down the river. The Otter Lodge was spacious and comfortable. As per a different review if you have mobility issues then this might not be the place for you as the stairs are steep and narrow.
We are in the restaurant and cannot understand the negative reviews on this site. The food was excellent and certainly no more expensive than any restaurant these days. We must say thank you to the staff who were all polite and a pleasure to talk to.
Nearby are good walks especially the rock where you can try and see the peregrine's and goshawks.
Do yourselves a favour and go and stay there. We shall be returning.

Ye old Ferrie Inn is a wonderful place to visit. The room was small but comfortable and a wonderful view.The stairs were steep and narrow, this is what we expected due to the age of the property.
Breakfast and dinner were excellent with a good choice of food.

A wonderful place to visit

Lovely place to stay right on the rivers edge very calm and peaceful.
Staff very friendly and helpful, a good selection of beers, evening meal superb and the full english breakfast was ginormous made from fresh local produce.
The final drive down to the Inn is quite narrow especially if you encounter oncoming traffic.

Well worth a visit.

First had a visit to Symonds Yat a few years ago when we just popped into this really great place for a pint and decided then we would love to come back and stay which we did in April this year.
Ye Old Ferrie Inn, is everything we could have hoped for. We stayed for 2 nights B&B. The room was lovely and comfortable with views out across the river in both directions. The room comes with Tea & Coffee facilities. and the bathroom was spacious with a great shower.
Breakfast each morning was a proper 'Full English' and really sets you up for the day.
We also decided to eat in the restaurant on both evenings, simply to avoid driving, and we were pleased we did. The meals were lovely as were all the staff.
The one thing I would say is, if you have mobility issues, maybe think twice before booking a stay. The stairs to the bedrooms are very narrow and steep and may not be suitable. Other than that, we shall return without a doubt.

Fantastic place to stay in a fantastic location

Lovely place, full of charm. Fond memories from many trips that way as a student. The service was lovely efficient polite. 

They were talkative, informative and welcoming.  

Nice views they had ent packed the tables in so your have space between customers. The food was efficient and quick. Great quality and  well presented. 

Lovely selection of drinks to boot. 

Happy to recommend to passing weary travellers and holiday makers or locals alike. We’ll certainly be back.
