I love this pub, always friendly and ideally situated for family and friends gatherings. 
Often have breakfast there with friends and family. Dog friendly which is a bonus and they made very welcome.  

Red Lion

Very personal attention, clean and welcoming- so much better than a Travelodge. Highly recommended for a budget hotel. Lovely staff, convenient and free parking, very close to shops, easy wifi, clean.

Best budget hotel

Stopped here for two nights attending a funeral in Portsmouth. Friendly and helpful staff and nice accomadation. In all about 17 rooms over two floors.  A great breakfast was included in our booking and a good evening menu. Parking at the side of the Hotel was convenient and free. Would stay here again when in the area.

Great place to stay

We had a walk in group meeting at 8:00pm. They seated us straight away. Was a great experience. Katie served us from walk in to finish, she was amazing. Lovely girl and put up with us team of 6.

Excellent service

Positives:

- Staff very helpful, friendly and welcoming
- Easy to check-in and register car for free parking
- Room was very clean upon arrival
- Plenty of tea and coffee options 
- Wi-Fi very easy to connect to and had a very good connection, even for watching Netflix
- TV very easy to use 
- Lots of plug sockets around the room 

Negatives:

- The room has no air conditioning and unfortunately my first night was a very humid and stuffy evening, making it not a great night's sleep for me. The room did have a couple of fans but didn't help much. However the next few night's were all fine and I slept well.
- One day there was a strong wind and it sounded like it was causing something to rattle on the roof above me which was a bit irritating (my room was on the second floor).
- Shower was a bit confusing to get working as no water seemed to come out of it for a very long time. However after the first use, it worked fine every time I used it.
- Cleaners seemed to chat and laugh very loudly while going round rooms which did wake me up a couple of times as I am a late riser.

Despite the negative points I have made, personally I would stay here again.

Good stay

I stayed here for a night recently which was long enough. Plenty of parking available and the pub served good food. The hotel is uninviting for I’m the outside and inside is not much better. Very tired and yet again no hot water. Why install a new shower console that only gives cold water. Kettle was a health hazard. Carpet was full of stains. Only good thing was a decent tv and WiFi connection.

Friendly staff, good food, comfortable,  quiet room, and unbeatable on price. 

My 8yr old daughter and I stayed for one night, had dinner in the Red Lion…  she was so happy that the manager saved the last pizza for her… she definitely would like to visit again!

Comfortable room, friendly staff and great value for money

Although the hotel part looks tired from the outside, the inside is clean, adequate size rooms with friendly, attentive and helpful staff.
We arrived early, however the staff allowed us to park there and book our car in preventing a hefty parking fine as the car park is ANPR controlled. 
We had 2 rooms, which are far enough away from the adjoining pub to not be disturbed. 
The bathroom looks dated, however functional and spacious with an electric shower.
The beds are comfy, can be made up as a double or split to become twins, with access to sufficient plugs and USB points. 
Along with a kettle, tea and coffee, we had all we needed.
The adjoining pub has a vast reasonably priced food choice, with Pizza a speciality cooked before your eyes in the Pizza Oven.
Only downside to the pub was no Cask Ale, despite there being 2 hand pumps, there was a choice of bottled ale though. 
We would recommend and will look to stay here again when in the area, it’s location close to bus and rail links makes it accessible.
