SKID MARKS on towels, bedding, walls, doors, kettle, curtains, carpet, breakfast table, lamp, owner seen eating food off plates before serving them, teeth marks on toast and sausage, owner was still chewing as he served breakfast

met the Father and son owners who were always friendly and helpful on the phone and also when we arrived. Particularly nice that they allowed us to leave our car in their parking area much earlier and they also allowed us to book in and dump our stuff in our spacious room. Nice shower/loo room. It was very close to the sea on the other side of the stone harbour defense. It was clean and comfortable.

overnight stay for Portland, Weymouth

The Beach House is in a great location right on Chesil Beach. There's no sea view due to the coastal defences behind, but you still get a view of the back of the pebble beach (at least we did in room 7) and the sound of the waves crashing on the shore is so relaxing as you fall asleep! We were the only guests at the B&B during our stay due to horrendous weather forcing a sailing event to be cancelled. This meant we had the run of the small parking area directly behind, and we weren't disturbed by any noise (other than the wonderful sea!). We met both Peter and his son during our stay and they were both pleasant and helpful. Our room was large and basic but with everything we needed. It was nice to have a table with two chairs, which meant we could have eaten a takeaway there if we wanted to (there was very little choice for eating out in Portland itself in October - we drove into Weymouth instead). The B&B felt very in-keeping with the beach behind it, with large drafty windows, low lighting on the landing, some old fixtures and decor, maximum heating required, etc. - which some might not enjoy but we did, as it gave it a particular charm. The bed was big and comfortable. Breakfast wasn't included in our room rate but due to the lack of eating options on the isle we chose to pay for it on two out of three mornings at £7.50 per person each time. The breakfast room was very nice with a lovely coastal feel. There was juice and cereal available, and then they could accommodate our choice of cooked breakfast. Again this was basic but met our needs. From the outside The Beach House looked a bit dismal in the rain, but the building has character and we enjoyed our stay.

Basic B&B with charm

On arriving at Beach house BB, we were shocked by the outside as completely different and shabby exterior, compared to what we had seen on internet......
.on entering no 51 , asked if this was correct place, the owner, Peter Lacey, became quite indignant, I asked to see the room first, as the place was very ill lit, we went up to room, there was no king size bed as I had requested when booking, and told we would have one.....
Peter Lacey  became angry and rude , 
downstairs we were told some pictures of the Beach House Hotel Weymouth, had "accidently" got put on their website....
We had no option but to stay .... it was late and no where else to go....
Peter Lacey said if we didnt stay the 3 nights we had booked... we would be charged £100 a night . instead of £90 quoted......
the room was adequate as were the breakfasts,
the room was only replenished one day ...out of 3
we requested a sheet and towel... which never came
and had to ask for more tolet rolls...( received 1)

We asked for reccomendations , of where to eat and Pubs etc..... and were not really given any positive response......

Of all the BBs  and Hotels......I've ever stayed in around the world,
This is the least Friendly and  least  Hospitable.....of All.

"Getting off on the Wrong  Foot  " !

Stayed here with my wife for 3 nights it made a great base for us we where on a short break and scuba diving in the area.
The room was nice and the double bed was comfortable. The breakfast was also good and the staff where friendly. The building was character full and had a nice feel about it, the property is located just behind Chesil beach and the Chesil cove Inn. No complaints would definitely recommend Beach House and would book again if we get back down here. 

Enjoyable Stay! 

Leaving a late review after being prompted by seeing the B&B on “4 in a bed”. We usually opt for a 4/5 star hotel but we absolutely loved our stay at the Beach house. Beautiful settings, comfy beds, lovely breakfast and friendly host. Decor isn’t the most luxurious but I think that’s reflected in the price for the area.

Stayed here twice what a wonderful place so relaxed home from home my place to stay when in area beach house Pete's a great guy so attentive goes above and beyond would do anything to make your stay mementos XXX great guy x

We stopped at the beach house for one night only but found the room to be comfortable and well equipped. The bed was very comfortable with nice bedding, lovely and dark at night and a good cooked breakfast the next morning. The room was a little dusty in places but this didnt bother us too much, the bathroom was dated but perfectly good enough - not sure it would be warm in winter though as no central heating in the bathroom.

Great host clean comfy bed

Basic but clean linen and comfortable beds. Don't expect anything fancy but go with the flow. Easy access to the beach and marina. Plenty of pubs and restraunts locally. We will definitely be returning

Does what it says

We found the Beach house fine for a base to explore the Dorset coast, there's bus stop close by. Its not a hotel so don't expect any extras. The place is old, but clean. Towels and bedding ok, breakfast good.  Friendly owners.
