Great stay with three rooms for the family. Great service, helped us check in, clean rooms with good facilities. The highlight was the breakfast, large room, good range and wonderful service, willing to accomodate our breakfast choices, and great value.

Surprisingly great stay and great value

Check in was speedy. Location was fine as we were due to meet family in the area the next day. Room 118 was a corner room with a balcony that had no access to. Meant little privacy in both sets of windows of the room (one to the left was some sort of office block that could see straight through the room, the patio looked directly across to the cars and traffic and Waitrose). Chocolate wrappers under the bed on arrival. Generally dated hotel and did not feel clean (dust gathered in the corners of the room). Noisy due to facing the Main Street. Temperature in the room was hard to navigate and made dripping sounds. Car park situation was not ideal as you park in the Guineas car park and limited number of available free bays for hotel guests. Luckily we were out for dinner otherwise would have had to pay to park whilst we checked in. It did mean that overnight, as the limited bays weren’t available, we had to park in the non-secured car park. Youths hanging around in the car park throwing bottles. Had to move the car early in the morning to avoid being charged/wait for other guests to check out. Single slices of toilet paper being dispensed in the rooms also a questionable choice.

Took more than half an hour to check in as there was no-one at reception. We was ringing the bell and even considered picking up the Wally talky left on the side just to get someone to come and serve us. This was 7pm in the evening

The location of the hotel was perfect for us and there was a car park, with designated parking spaces just across the road for hotel guests.  The staff at check in were very helpful.  We stayed for two nights and had breakfast at the hotel.  Plenty of choice for both continental and cooked breakfast but the cooked breakfast was not really to my liking.

Weekend in Newmarket

Although I had specified two beds in the room we were told there was only a double available. We were tired after our journey and it was pouring with rain and we were told we couldn’t have a refund straight away. I started to phone another hotel but the lovely Amanda said she would see what she could do and eventually came back to say she had put an extra bed up for us. The room was clean and comfortable but really surprised that there are no grab rails in the bathroom and the shower hose doesn’t detach. Just had the continental breakfast but there was loads of choice including crumpets and unlimited coffee. A huge thank you to Amanda and Sandra for being so sympathetic and helpful.
Although there are allocated parking spaces in the car park opposite there is nothing to stop anyone parking there so you’re lucky if you get a space.

Wonderful reception staff!

We’re used to staying at P. Inn and generally happy, but this was grim. Two staff in duty shared between the bar and restaurant on a busy Sunday evening was a joke. No ice for drinks, didn’t have the red wine we chose from the menu. We chose to pay extra and have steak - meat quality dreadful , but an effort had been made to cook rare and medium rare. Different selected accompaniments were mixed up. Carpet very dirty in restaurant. It was a dreadful experience, but staff were doing their best under extreme circumstances.

Disappointing stay in Newmarket

Used this Premier Inn as a base closest to the event I was going to that evening. Found the parking facilities good, no issues in finding an empty space. Was pleasantly surprised with the bar and restaurant facilities, very homely and prices reasonable.
Was in a 3rd floor room overlooking the clock tower, would have been a great view to see the racehorses heading towards the gallops but was up too late 

Good location for Town

After paying for meal deal ,room,and breakfast online off we go to newmarket I was rung up to move my dinner reservation on Boxing Day ,no big deal so I oblige only to turn up be seated and served a starter to be told the meal deal that I had allready paid for is not for the meal there serving ,so I ask for the meal I’ve paid for..oh sorry we don’t do that today ??hmmm so what are you serving. We are serving the Christmas menu..so what exactly have I already paid for I ask.  You paid for the meal deal…I’ll have that then..you can’t have that it’s not being served today this went on for a minute or so. In the meen time the dinner was placed on the table.  And then removed from the table and taken away again.  Can I speak to the manager. I am the manager.  Ok then can I have the meal I’ve paid for. We are not serving it today. THEN WHY LET ME BOOK AND PAY FOR IT IF YOU ARE NOT DOING IT….speak to another manager who then confirms it is actually what we paid for and there is no problem at all  brings back out mildly warm dinner from earlier ,get a sorry and told meals on the house,great I thought so they refunded my meal deal.  Then asked what time breakfast was as leaflet say 0800 and internet said 0630.  Get confirmation breakfast starts at 0630…Lolololololol
Turn up at 0700 sorry sir not open untill 0800 .ok so now it’s getting ridiculous so come back at 0800 sit down only to be told i haven’t paid for breakfast and will need to pay.  You really couldn’t make this up…so after another 3 rounds with the manager all sorted once again.  Now time to leave. Lol.  I get me bill. Original bill £107 Inc meal deal which is dinner and breakfast….actual bill £170.  So they charged me for 2 more meal deals and refunded 1 so the refunded meal has now cost me twice as much as I would of originally paid. So I ring back up and ask can they explain the bill to me.  Response was I’m not really sure.  So if you can’t even explain this bill how the hell do you expect me to understand it.??
After being told I would get a call back to sort it. Still waiting 2 weeks later.    All was sorted as correct amount has been taken.   And to top it all off I’m 6’4” trying to shower in a bathtub with a 5 foot shower head was comical but not as comical as drying myself with a hand towel as only one bath towel and the missus had used that.  So I give a rating of 1 out of 10.  And I’m being generous 

WHERE DO I START

The hotel was great and the room was superb for the price we paid for. The bed was comfy and the room was clean and pleasant. The receptionist at the Newmarket branch was exceptionally helpful and made our stay pleasant. My partner and I could not praise her enough! Thank you! 

Excellent!

Premier Inn Newmarket is a great place to stay. The accommodation and staff are both excellent. If you need to stay in town, then this should be your first choice. (p.s if you like horses, then you’ll love staying in Newmarket, they’re everywhere!)
