Stopped here for a quick drink before starting our holiday a few miles away, then came back for an evening meal. Loved what we ordered, I had chicken in a wild mushroom and garlic cream sauce and hubby went for a traditional Cumberland sausage. Huge portions and all cooked fresh to order. It was good to see locals with their young families in the pub.

I stayed in room 2 for 1 night, the room and ensuite was clean. I slept well (as did my dog) as room is dog friendly. There was a party in the pub on the same night but I can honestly say I hardly heard anything. My breakfast the following morning was excellent very tasty in deed. Thabk you for a lovely stay woyld certainly book again.

4 middle-aged bikers who like their home comforts.  The accommodation, food, staff and beer were all perfect.

I would highly recommend for all then right reasons and will definitely be back.

On a recent trip to the Lake District we came across this pub. The food is absolutely stunning  and a good price, we ate here on several nights. On the last night of our trip we stayed for bed and breakfast. The room was comfortable and they accepted our two dogs without a problem. The full english breakfast was beautifully cooked and plenty of it ( I didn't eat again until the evening). Great place to stay great place to eat.

Four of us popped in, mid afternoon on Wednesday, and found a warm welcome, and a good pint, and asked if seven of us could come for breakfast on Friday morning. No hassle, a straight forward "yes, absolutely". They open at 10am, and we rolled in at 10:15, seven family members, ready to travel to different points of England and Scotland. 6 full English and 1 half English breakfasts. Size was enormous, cooked to perfection, and a great price. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat, if you're anywhere near, and looking for food. I know that we only had breakfast, but the food menu looked amazing.

My wife and I went for lunch on a Monday.  Quiet, but a great pub and the food was fantastic and very reasonably priced compared to most pub food these days.  My wife said her scampi was the 'real deal' and the best she had ever tasted.  My fish and chips was delicious too.  Friendly staff and a great atmosphere and well worth a visit if you are in the area.  Highly recommended.

My husband and I decided to stop here after leaving Ravenglass. The food was absolutely delicious.  Best pub food I have had in a long time. It was freshly cooked to order. No frozen chips or veg, all properly handmade and completely delicious.  Highly recommended.

Myself and my partner went here for a drink and a meal in the sun and let me tell you this was such a pleasant experience! The staff were so so friendly and we were able to order with them bringing it to us outside. The food was some of the best “pub” food we have ever eaten… if you go I definitely recommend the halloumi fries as they are so crispy and delicious! Food was brought quickly and nothing was too expensive! 
Would definitely go again and would definitely without a doubt recommend anyone to go! :)

What a great little find. Staying just round the corner in Millom, whilst exploring the Lakes by motorcycle, we stopped off and ate here every evening! There is a great selection of food, all freshly cooked with generously sized portions and great ales to complement.  The owner and his father made us feel so very welcome and would always join us at our table and took an interest in our daily exploits!   We will definitely return!

This is a regular stopping off point for us - but don’t usually eat here. Very glad we did. Early dinner … Sunday … after a long day. Sat outside in the sun looking at the colours of nature around. Whitebait … followed by Chilli-con-Carne & my partner had Cumberland sausage with black pudding, mustard mash & roasted vegetables (very very good apparently). Excellent beer … Centurion from Great Corby … highly recommended
