Met the owners on holiday, lovely people so went to visit them.  Beautiful setting and excellent accommodation available.  The hosts are brilliant and make sure they do everything to make your stay perfect.  If you enjoy a rural setting with lovely views and walks, this is the place for you.

So peaceful

The cosiest stay in a Shepherd's hut ever! It rained on and off all weekend but this just added to how snug we felt in our accomodation.  The delicious scones upon arrival were a real treat and the hut had everything we needed for a weekend getaway. A really beautiful part of the UK to explore right on the moors with sea views. Our toddler loved meeting the horses , chickens, kune kune pigs and dove and we were made to feel very welcome. We will be back!

Hosts offer amazing experience. Dogs are genuinely welcome, horses too  Ride for miles across the moors Comfortable well stocked accommodation. Would love to go again and am sure Iwill

Peace and Tranquility

We had a night here and ate in the main restaurant. Lovely large room in one of the annexes. We all thought the restaurant was excellent and sound value at c£65 a head. Duck starter was outstanding. Worth a 3-4 day break especially if you are a golfer.

Lovely restaurant and views

I stayed in Swift Cottage a couple of weeks ago, really sweet and well kitted out. Enclosed garden for dogs. Lovely view from the Cottage. Walking distance to the Moors and short drive to the sea. Excellent area to stay and very lovely welcome from Pauline and Doug, the owners, who could not of done more for me. Will definitely go back as soon as I can.

Amazing situation.

There is a passage in the novel 'The Songbird and the Lion' that talks about High Bullen being a derelict wreck of a farm, one whose leaky slates allow rain to penetrate the roof, causing misery for the eponymous heroine within. It is, I assure you, a work of complete fiction, something conjured in the fertile imagination of a wonderful writer, and anyway set in an alternative past. For High Bullen Farm is something else entirely to that ill-imagined place, and an absolute pleasure to visit.

My girlfriend Emma and I have been here no fewer than three times during the past eighteen months. We always stay in the garden house, which is the cosiest escape from the modern world possible. Yes, it is basic, so maybe not suited to anyone demanding the greatest of luxury. However, anyone who loves peace, comfort and relaxation, will agree with my hearty recommendations for this place.

The garden is private, secluded and stunningly beautiful, with flowers of every kind and colour. The summer house offers quiet and darkness of the type urban life forbids. There are walks that lead directly onto Exmoor and views from the garden to Wales. In the morning, the owner, Stephanie will prepare a delicious cooked breakfast, to go with local yogurts, organic bread and preserves.

Nearby Lynmouth is well worth a visit; ditto a ride on its famous clifftop railway. The Valley of the Rocks is rightly considered one of the region’s biggest draws and, a little further afield, the clapper bridge known as the Tarr Steps is unbearably scenic. There are many great pubs to visit, especially the Fox and Goose in Parracombe. The Rising Sun, with its enviable harbourside setting, is also lovely.

The Songbird and the Lion

I stayed in two rooms as stayed twice during my tour. 
The first was the summer house. Large bed with sofa, tv, fridge, little dining table with chairs and a shower room with toilet and sink. It is so lovely, very homely and comforting. Stephany (owner) is very welcoming and accommodating. Breakfast is served in the stunning old farm house. 
My second room was in the house. I booked a room which was like a little apartment as it had its own living room (with tv and fridge) and shower room with toilet. It's stunning and the views out of the windows is stunning, I even saw Wales!
The house is old and quirky with some flagstone floors and thick walls from yesteryear. Very characteristic and decorated in reflection. The gardens are very well looked after and there's plenty to enjoy. 

My stay was relaxing and just what I needed. Stephany was a wonderful host and was able to make many recommendations for walks, places to visit and eat. Dogs are welcome too. 

There's plenty to see in the local areas, but the B&B is directly in the moors, so you've got miles and miles of incredibly stunning Devon scenery to enjoy. No photo can really do justice to being there and seeing it all. 

I highly recommend staying at High Bullen Farm and am a repeat customer.

Beautiful B&B, highly recommend

This is the 8th time I have stayed at HB and again it was a pleasure. Double room, with tv and tea making facilities and some very nice biscuits. There was plenty of towels in the room. Will be going back next year.

High Bullen

We intended to stay 2 nights at that estate, which - for the last 300 meters - only can be reached over an unpaved road. 
Room was not en suite; Toilet was across the floor.
Due to storm damage WIFI did not work.
Cooked breakfast was ok but tea and toast had to be prepared by ourselves.

Expectations not met

We stayed in the garden room, unfortunately in reality its a large wooden shed. Although it looks quite cosy and pretty from the photos, the reality is different. the toilet is separated from the living/sleeping area by a curtain in the corner (no door) the accommodation standard is very 1950's holiday camp. 
Its a shame as the position of the farm is lovely!
