Mitre House Hotel

This is one of the great gems of the London hotel world. If you're looking to stay in one of those anonymous international chains with huge glass front doors and a marble-floored lobby, the Mitre House admittedly may not be for you. On the other hand, if it's a warmly inviting, family-run establishment that combines the charm of a private home with all the amenities of a well-run, welcoming hotel you want, you should make your way there immediately. You'll be assured of a warm welcome from Mike and his always efficient and friendly staff, a comfortable and immaculately clean room, and for that matter a delicious complementary hot breakfast each morning. As a further bonus, the hotel is located literally down the street from the main entrance to Paddington station, always handy for Heathrow, and just a few minutes' stroll from Hyde Park. I've been in hotels large and small over the years, and, trust me, this is the place to stay while in central London. I shall return!
