What a fabulous find! We spent 5 fabulous nights at The Pencubbit. Could not fault this B & B in any way. Absolutely spotlessly clean. Rooms large and airy. Comfortable beds. Fan, hairdryer, bath robe, tea/coffee making facilities in every room. Large screen tv in the room. Patrick and Julie were great hosts without being intrusive. Lovely grounds to walk around and sit in. Quiet location but 7 minute walk to the railway station. We ordered dinner each night and the food was fabulous. We worked our way through the menu! Pat has been a chef for a long time and we certainly benefited from his expertise. 2 really lovely lounges to sit in. A great residents bar too! We originally opted for this place as it’s adults only. We love our grandchildren but enjoyed the peace! If your thinking of booking don’t hesitate. You will not be disappointed.

Pencubitt house is amazing! 
Beautiful house, rooms, furnishings & wonderful hosts! Julie & Patrick look after you so well. Nothing is too much trouble, 
The food is gorgeous. Delicious Cornish breakfast with quality ingredients, fantastic selection of other offerings for breakfast. Wonderful selection of continental. Lovely dining room. 
Patrick’s home made bread is so tasty! 
We also ate there two evenings & food is home cooked to perfection! Delicious desserts. 
Our room was number 8. A suite tastefully decorated & with everything you need. Comfy bed, fluffy white robes & bath towels ample storage , quality bedding. 
Great bar & lots of seating. 
Another nice sitting room with free coffee & tea on offer. Plush seats & beautifully decorated. 
This place is amazing! 
The service you get is second to none, the hosts Patrick & Julie go above & beyond. 
The beautifully furnished country home will leave you wishing you’d booked longer!

Situated a short drive from liskeard & just 6 mins walk to train station(for able bodied-I had to get a taxi. )We paid £14 for 4 adults return to looe.

Stunning country house

Words can not express how we feel about our very recent stay, from the wonderful welcome received from Patrick on arrival to the sumptuous bedroom with balcony.  Tea and coffee with fresh milk in one of the lounges. Food always piping hot and more than willing to accommodate dietary requirements ty patrick. Food all cooked fresh a real treat. 
Julie so welcoming and friendly and genuinely wants your stay to be as comfortable as possible. The whole hotel is. Maintained to a high standard and it’s the minor details which they take pride in as well as the obvious. It oozes luxurious comfort. We will certainly be back. Thank you Patrick and Julie for our wonderful stay 

Perfect stay in a secret gem

Everything was perfect: Patrick, Julie, the two ladies who work there and of course Pencubitt House! We felt like home thanks to Julie because she was very loving and caring with us, and we'll never forget the amazing breakfasts and delicious dinners cooked by Patrick. If you are going to visit Cornwall, don't hesitate, this is the perfect place to stay!

A little paradise in Cornwall.

My wife and her sister are originally from Liskeard so very familiar with the local area as their family still live locally. We decided on a stay at Pencubitt as we were attending a special birthday of a family member, rather fitting as my wife and sister attended a wedding over forty years ago at the same hotel!
I hasten to add that Julie and Patrick haven’t been the hosts all of that time but from my understanding have enhanced the hotel to a very high standard to where it is today.
The quality of bed linen, exceptional standards maintained throughout the hotel and nothing too much trouble, all together make for a wonderful stay.
Breakfast was equally a quality experience, from the produce used, cooked perfectly.
Fresh milk available from the lounge area to make tea & coffee, or relaxing in the bar area with a drink (very reasonable bar prices I hasten to add).
It is worth reading the history of this rather magnificent house as it make’s interesting reading.
All in all, an excellent stay and I’m sure we will return in the future.

Superior weekend experience 

We have stayed at Pencubitt House several times, each visit seeming to be better than the previous! We were in Tower Room 7 with lovely views over the gardens, Looe Valley and Moorswater Viaduct. The rooms are spotless and tastefully and comfortably furnished (as is the entire house, with lovely lounges for relaxation at any time of day - plenty of interesting books to browse through and a well-stocked and extremely well-priced bar for that pre-dinner drink!

Julie & Patrick are the very best mine hosts you could wish for (and Pat's cooking as superb as ever; wonderful breakfasts with a wide choice of fruit, cereals etc and divine cooked selection) and delicious dinners. We travelled by train this time and the house is just a few minutes walk from the station with excellent connections to all Cornwall - easy to get to many places including St Michael's Mount which was wonderful and the lovely Looe Valley Line.

We can't praise this gem of a guest house enough - and can't wait for our next visit in spring 2023. Thank you Julie & Pat for helping make our week in Cornwall so memorable!

Another Wonderful Visit!

Everything was perfect.  Julie and Patrick are a lovely couple.  Nothing too much trouble.  Their home is absolutely spotlessly clean and well organised.  Food is amazing, and excellent service by all the team.  Beautiful setting, relaxed and  tranquil.

Perfect

This was my sixth stay at the beautiful home of Patrick and Julie who are the perfect hosts. Every room is individual and meticulously clean with everything you need for a relaxing stay. Breakfast and dinner served in the lovely dining room always presented and cooked to perfection. Free parking in the spacious car park in the grounds and a train station a five minute walk away. During this stay we visited Looe and St Ives by train and there are many more destinations allowing you to leave the driving behind. Two beautiful lounges to relax in the evening with lots of interesting books and magazines while enjoying a coffee or something stronger from the well stocked bar. We wouldn't stay anywhere else since we found Pencubitt House. A true gem.

Beautiful House in a Tranquil Setting

A beautiful old home in a tranquil and relaxing area.  Meticulously kept and excellent service from Patrick and Julie, the owners.  Two beautifully furnished rooms on the ground floor to relax and talk or enjoy the views.  The bar was well stocked and a welcome reprieve at the end of each day.  We enjoyed the delicious breakfasts each day and ate dinner one night of our stay which was also excellent.  Liskeard is a beautiful old Cornwall town with lots of history and character.  We would definitely come again.

Relaxing and Beautiful

Lovely old house, quite grand but homely, felt like it was out of an 
Agatha Chritie novel.
We had a splendid room with balcony and house martins nesting.
 An exceptional  cooked breakfast by Patrick, with lots of choice .
Two lounges with lots of books and games. A very reasonable priced and  well stoked bar. I
Really friendly but unobtrusive hosts.
Dinner was not served the night we were there, which would of been the icing on the cake.
We were there for a wedding but it  would make a great base for touring local area with the train station on its door step.
It was great from beginning  to end. Many thanks Patrick and Julie.
