Fabulous Sunday lunch at the scotsmans. Excellent food, beautiful surroundings. It's a very "cosy" pub, but you don't feel crowded.
Really enjoyed the service, a waitress called Sylvia was very friendly, looked after us well.
Gets very busy, always worth booking in advance

Lovely pub with 6 rooms upstairs. I stayed in room 4, double bed, TV, tea & coffee making facilities and extra goodies provided, ensuite shower room and breakfast included. 

I had dinner in the pub, choosing from a great menu of locally sourced foods.  Couldn't hear much noise from the pub below after I went up to my room.  

If you need a power shower in the mornings, stay somewhere else but this one was good enough for me before heading our for a long walk.  

Breakfast, served in the pub, was delicious and excellent quality once again.  

All the team were friendly and welcoming.  Thanks to everyone there for an enjoyable stay. I will be back. 



Excellent place to stay, great value for money!!

I entered the inn and 2 people behind the bar ignored me. Then a man approached the bar. He was spoken to. But he turned to me so that I could ask to be seated having booked. A very poor reception. A greeting is so important when entering an hostelry. 
I like dogs but we were seated between two. Dog smelly! 
Chose the roast lamb which was an extra £3. Not worth it. My husband wanted turkey which was no longer on the menu which apparently they hadn’t updated. Other people similarly disappointed. 
Oh dear. Didn’t bother trying the desserts!!
This was such a disappointment after reading reviews that said it was the best Sunday lunch. It wasn’t. Do encourage your staff to interact with your visitors as soon as they enter the pub and consider seating dog owners in a special area.

Disappointing Sunday lunch

Very cosy pub with excellent walking close by. Noisy in bedroom until music in pub stopped at 11:30pm but lovely place to stop. Staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. Breakfast very good too.

We took a chance on going out during the day on new years eve to find somewhere to eat, took a chance and stopped off at the Scotsman Pack. This was a pre birthday treat/surprise for my Husband as his Birthday was on New Years day. As we didn't book ahead for lunch an hour wait was no hardship so we had a drink at the bar till a table came free. We were not disappointed. The staff were very accomodating and friendly and the food was absolutely delicious! A very warm and friendly place if you want to go somewhere that serves excellent food, thanks Sylvia!

Great staff

Good value for money. Comfortable and welcoming older pub. Bedroom quiet, warm, cosy. Staff friendly. Pub was very crowded, nice atmosphere. Short walk from village centre. We'd go back.

Good place to stay.

One of our group booked for Sunday lunch on a whim. I was slightly worried when I saw how busy they were but I needn’t have worried. Food was amazing and whilst the service was slightly slow that was understandable given the number of diners. Special mention for the Apple and Brown butter crumble which I will honestly dream about for quite some time!

Lovely Sunday Lunch

This is a gem of a place, nestled in the Hope Valley. Picture perfect surroundings, excellent food, lovely comfy rooms and friendly staff to boot! And it snowed, making it Christmassy! We will definitely return.

Gem of a place in the Peak District

First off, the pub is lovely, the food is great and the staff are friendly and welcoming.Our ‘room’ was number 4. It used to be a fire exit before it was converted. There is a lit fire exit sign in the room which is always on. This disturbed my sleep a lot. It’s like a green night light. They turned it off on the 2nd night. There is a fire exit sign because there is a fire exit to the outside in the room, with a curtain across it. This makes the room cold despite the heating being on constantly.I was also woken by the plumbing on both nights, which was loud enough to record on my phone. The towel rail in the bathroom has the temperature of several suns and conveniently located at the same height as the light pull, so you can burn your hand on it when turning the light on. We ended up wrapping it in towels.The shower is unusable as it is scalding hot and very poor flow. It apparently has 2 settings - off and scalding. No adjustments make any difference.Our friends also stayed in the hotel and the other rooms don’t have the same issues, although they did hear the plumbing.
