I held my daughters baby shower in the function room last Saturday , the manager David and his staff were so incredibly accommodating and helpful, very friendly nothing was to much trouble Function room was a good size to fit 50 people 
I'll definitely return for a family gathering very soon and recommend it to anyone looking for a local  venue.

Decided to give the Heathfield a try for lunch. On arrival the staff were very pleasant and friendly. Ordered drinks and given a table with menus. The food was lovely, you weren't rushed and there was a pleasant atmosphere. Will look forward to returning in the future.

Relaxing lunch

We visited the Heathfield Inn on a quiet Thursday Lunchtime. We are local but had not visited since the Inn changed hands. We first asked if they were serving food, as their Facebook Page and Website do not mention their Opening Hours or Food Service times. It was quite chilly and there didn't appear to be any Heating on or a Fire in the open fireplace, so we left our Coats on. The Bar/Restaurant area is well decorated but we chose to sit in the Restaurant as the seats are more comfortable. Our Meals of Smothered Chicken (£16) and Beef Lasagne (£15) arrived properly and were good with lots of flavour, but the Portion size was tiny, so if you have a large appetite this probably isn't the place for you. Despite it being pretty quiet (and now we know why) our plates were not cleared until I had to go and ask at the bar if there was a Desert Menu. There weren't any Hot Deserts available, so we both settled for the Vanilla Cheesecake at £7 for a small but tasty Portion. The Old Speckled Hen Bitter was in excellent condition. The Toilets are fine but do watch out for the scalding water in the hand-basins. There is plenty of Parking for its size, but it may get crowded in the evening if the Hotel Rooms are occupied. We will try and visit again in the warmer months, by which time they might have got their act together.

Good Food Served in Tiny Portions

After seeing the changes and hearing good things through social media about our local inn we decided to go for a meal when we had family visiting. I booked the restaurant using the website online booking.
When we arrived I was very disappointed to see that we were not sat in the restaurant but had two pub tables pushed together next to the bar. This became more annoying as the bar got busier. The restaurant only had two people eating in it for the duration of our meal. If it was fully booked then our booking shouldn't have been taken. It was difficult to have a conversation during the meal as the rugby was on in the bar area, this wouldn't have been a problem if we had been in the restaurant as booked. 
 We ordered drinks which weren't at all what we ordered (asked for Coke and given Pepsi, ordered a water hoping for a choice of still or sparkling and got a pint of tap water).
The jacket potato was clearly microwaved as it had that rigid texture rather than fluffy and it tasted odd, there was very little beef in my beef lasagne and the steak wasn't cooked as asked. Very disappointing.
Such a shame as we had hoped this would become our local again but we won't be returning.

Such a disappointment

We received a very friendly welcome when we visited The Heathfield for a meal and drinks with our family and 2 dogs.  The staff were helpful and the service was very good.  We all enjoyed tasty meals and my husband was pleased that they served local ales.  The dogs enjoyed a few treats from the bar and the attention they received from staff!  Great local pub. We will definitely be visiting again, thank you

Very friendly and welcoming atmosphere

The pub has been taken over recently and if our Sunday roast is anything to go by their on the right track.

Great place to eat

Absolutely excellent meal.  It was hot, value for money. The choice on the menu was excellent., priced well.  The service was brilliant, the waiter very accommodating, nothing was to much trouble. We did not have room for sweet but they sounded delicious. 

Tasty food at very reasonable prices

Lovely staff, great food and lovely clean room. The hotel was in a great position for attending a wedding at Deer park country house only a short 10 mins drive away. We stayed here the night before our son’s wedding, dinner was lovely and great choice, breakfast was a choice of standard and large full English, large was very large, continental breakfast, well everything you could want for breakfast. We decided we will return just so we can enjoy the hotel one more time. Recommended.

Great place to stay

Found this hidden gem whilst staying in Honiton for a wedding. The food was amazing, we had duck to start which was incredible and full of flavour, halloumi,  risotto and chicken and rib combo for mains. Not forgetting a delicious cookie dough for desert! Huge portions too,  couldn’t fault it. Brilliant  staff so helpful and friendly. Highly recommend! (Wish I had taken some photos!) thank you! 

Amazing food and staff

Really impressed. Very friendly & helpful. Very dog friendly, we had 3 dogs with us. 
Room was a decent size. 
Could not fault the full English breakfast.
Would definately recommend to others and would return.
