The food and service were great, it was busy to be expected at this time of year, however the evening did not start well the entrance to the car park is tight a tree on the left side has a kerb and is difficult to see, there were a number of guests drinking outside restricting the entrance so I caught the kerb and damaged my car. There are no lights in the car park so you cannot see the puddles and pot holes. As we were leaving another car had beached itself on the same kerb and the owners were stuck waiting for help. Please look at your entrance and car park lights.

Could have been better

Yet again another fanastic meal today, at this lovely riverside pub.  Also great to be able to be accompanied by my pet dog, where dogs are welcome, even if all dogs are not welcoming! My friend had never been there but was very impressed and will take her family there.

Dog friendly and pleasant staff

Parked in the overflow car park.  Decided to have two lattes as service had finished and although we were a little hungry no alternative was offered.

The latte was actually leaking through the crack in the cup that I had.

Then some guy was amused that his dog on a lead at least 5 metres long was sniffing around my wife and I, and the guy could not care less.  A dog is not under control unless they are absolutely by your side.  Period.

Went to pay....table 27 if I recall, and was asked what we had.  I told them two latte's and was asked if that was all !  

To be fair, all staff a[part from the one on/near the till were very nice and polite.

Gents urinals all had a flushing issue.

Is what it is!

We went for a Sunday lunch with a few local friends who had recommended it. The staff were clearly hugely over their heads, and it took them 25 minutes to come and get our food order. And it was not for lack of trying. I went to the bar 3 times in total and was assured someone would come immediately. Had to ask them to please wipe our table clean as it was sticky with gravy and ketchup. Food was good, once it finally arrived (1 hour and 15 minutes after sitting). The whole experience took 2 hours and 15 minutes. We were not in a huge rush, but this was excessive.
Oh, and no children menu available.
Do not bother with this place on a weekend. Not worth it, as they clearly overbook beyond their means.

Appalling restaurant service

We visit for Sunday roast once a month. Consistency fabulous food and service. I am a vegetarian and nut roast needs to be ordered in advance. It would be nice to see more vegetarian and vegan options on the menu please! I don’t leave reviews very often but this pub deserves it!

What a treat to find an unpretentious pub with outstanding food which was clearly home cooked, lovely venue, attentive staff and very sensibly priced. Thank you for making a family Sunday lunch so special.

Fabulous food!

What a shame - I really used to love PL but had such a disappointing experience today and I hope this is not the new post CoVID norm! Service is slow as they are so busy running food in and out of the kitchen that no one asks you if you are ok or would like another drink - I had to go up to the bar to order my own drink. My steak was over cooked but more interesting was the public embarrassing challenge from the kitchen saying that the light in the kitchen makes the steak looked medium-rare....perhaps I should have eaten it under that light. Other food on the table was ok but certainly not how it used to be. What of a waste of a nice summer dinner opportunity!

Not sure what has changed?!

We saw the brown sign from the A36 after being sorely disappointed by our pub booked for dinner in Somerset....on arriving the staff were very apologetic and said they were fully booked! We must have looked crest fallen - they then moved things about and found space for us! What great service....we went out into the garden to sit by the river, what a spot - gorgeous. The staff were attentive and the food excellent. We couldn't have been happier. One to come back to for sure!!

Really, really great little pub!!!

Lovely surroundings and great food but unfortunately it took 45 minutes for our starters to arrive. The waiting staff were courteous and helpful as always but there were just too few of them. Such a shame as I would not consider eating at The Leo unless I had plenty of time to spare

Great food but long wait

Lunch at a country pub should be a tranquil, comfortable and well paced experience.  Sadly lunch at the Prince Leopold was at the opposite end of the spectrum.  A popular hostelry, it was overwhelmed by patrons taking advantage of the "Eat out to help out" scheme.  Service was glacial, the food overcooked and the atmosphere anything but tranquil.  Staff admitted that they could barely cope with the surge.  This is a great pub under normal conditions but, like many others, it is one to avoid until the Chancellor's scheme expires.
