We stayed at this beautiful characterful Inn for 2 nights and had a fantastic time, very pleasant atmosphere, very friendly and helpful staff, excellent ales and amazing food, will definitely return   

A real gem 

Having stayed here, recently, on business, I felt very privileged to have stayed in such an old prestigious Inn. Staff were friendly and accommodating. There wasn’t anything they would not do for me, if it was within their capabilities. This was even providing a toothbrush and toothpaste as I had forgotten mine!

The menu had everything for everybody. I had the venison Wellington,  this is the best I had ever tasted. However, if I wanted ham egg and chips, this was also available.

The room I had was the smallest without an ensuite. This served me well, there was a dressing robe in the wardrobe for my privacy, popping to my bathroom across the hall.  There was a hand basin within the room. The price reflected this at only a £60 for single occupancy, bed and breakfast.

The breakfast in the morning, although after having the venison the night before I probably had eyes bigger than my belly. There was so much to choose from - devilled kidneys if you’re brave, but I highly recommend the full English, which sets you up for the day, plenty of tea and coffee, plenty of toast and a starter of yoghurt porridge or granola.

I will certainly be back. I am so used to being booked in to travel lodges or Premier Inns. Yes they might have Wi-Fi but hands down the NoBody Inn wins my approval.

Old Peaceful Quirky

Characterful property and ok for a night or two, but needs attention to detail.  Feels a bit tired and uncared for - basic facilities are adequate and staff friendly but no sense of any focus on customer experience. Bedroom room 4 was spacious but fixtures in bathroom were loose, curtain linings mouldy and drawer handles missing. General sense that carpets and fittings need a deep clean.   Breakfast area draughty and gloomy. Food was fine but lacked a personal touch (eg no choice offered of how eggs cooked).  Access to rooms is through bar and past unattractive storage area. Wouldn’t rush back.  

Disappointing

My husband I stayed two nights and during that time we had a varied experience. The staff were lovely and we can’t fault them. The room was adequate though offered one easy chair and there being no comfortable seating (no easy chairs) in the bar we were limited to sitting at a table or one narrow settle beside the fire if lucky enough to find it free.
It would also have been nice to have soap in our bedroom wash hand basin - there was however some shower oil. 
Sherry in the rooms is a nice touch though I’d have preferred not to find bits in the decanter.
While the breakfast menu is reasonably varied ( by the way kippers are, by definition, smoked - no need to say ‘smoked kippers’) my experience was not good: bacon so hard I couldn’t cut it.
Whisky marmalade is offered with toast but if fancy neither marmalade nor whisky flavours at breakfast nothing is else is offered on the menu.
Our meals in the evening were disappointing considering the pub is featured in Trenchermens. The first night the menu seemed rather dull and limited. My husband had lambs liver the texture of which was crumbly and mushy: a sign to me of being either over cooked or of poor condition in its the raw state. A free drink was offered in place of the liver left on the side of the plate. We wanted to eat together so other options were not acceptable. 
I had asked for a medium rare steak - it was definitely not that! A slight pinkness existed in the pre-cut steak presented to me. The meals are huge.
Our second night’s menu was more extensive and quality was a little better.
The extensive range of whiskies provides interest.
We have been going to The Nobody over many years and remember having really good and interesting food and enjoying our experience and the atmosphere. But on our recent visit we felt that the trendy shabby look had moved towards neglect and food no more than of average quality. 
Overall the experience was disappointing and not one to repeat or recommend, sadly. 


Disappointing though staff very friendly and helpful 

A fantastic pub that has plenty of character I stayed here for two nights and it was a fantastic experience.

Do not book a room here expecting a modern experience like phone charging ports by the bed and super fast WiFi because that's not what you will get.

What you do get is a period property with nice clean rooms a very comfortable bed and in most cases a ensuite bathroom you also get tea and coffee making facilities and a TV.

The pub offers a fantastic range of food in it's restaurant Breakfast is included and is very good with plenty of choice.

I have to mention the Sirloin steak was the best I have ever had.

Fantastic period residential pub

Lovely folk but seriously tired accommodation. 

Let’s start with the positives - great breakfast, friendly staff, good bar and food menu. 

The negatives - seriously tired rooms (carpets shabby, furniture scuffed, bed absolutely requires a new mattress), the room was freezing when we got in, bar and restaurant where also very cold - tried sitting by the fire but the staff repeatedly threw crisp packets in it - carcinogenic!! Whole place felt like it’s best years were 15 years ago and hasn’t been updated since.

Overall, would not return. Much better places on /by the Moor!

Great staff but tired accommodation - not the experience I hoped for at all

We have become regulars at the Nobody over the last few months as we stay there after dropping our son off at Exeter university. Every stay is a pleasure. The food is unfailingly amazing (steak and ale pie with horseradish mash!). The beers are superb. And the breakfasts! The building is a bit creaky but that only adds to the charm. The staff are very friendly and professional. I thoroughly recommend this little pub oasis in a Devon valley.

Been here many times in the past for a day trip and never explored the local countryside. so decided a it was about time I took my partner for a weekend. Usual friendly welcome, our room ( the one with the 4 poster) was clean tidy and quirky as expected. We at in the restaurant both night, all meals excellent incl breakfast. Will defo be back. 

great stop over for Plymouth ferries for food or accommodation - or make a few days of it you wont be disappointed 

This place is definitely worth investing in a sat-nav!  
Off the beaten track yes.
Is it worth the effort of tracking it down most definitely YES!
First visited over 30 years ago and still producing absolutely bang on lunches.
Oh the beer is pretty brilliant too!

Superb lunch.

Beautiful old historic village inn. We stayed for 3 nights and had a fabulous time. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming. The room was great - very clean, comfy bed, fluffy towels. Furnished really well to fit with the age of the inn, but with all mod cons too. The breakfasts were amazing, with a really wide choice. We even tried the devilled kidneys which were lovely. Would highly recommend the Nobody Inn - a complete break from the hustle and bustle of life, in a beautiful setting with friendly staff, great rooms and lovely food. Oh - and an AMAZING malt whisky selection as well! Thank you all for making our stay so great.
