Fabulous location. Owned and run by lovely people who will go out of their way to maintain the highest standard of customer service and satisfaction. The Abbots has a very homely feel whilst maintaining the highest standards.

Just wow

I had the pleasure of staying in this hotel in June 2018 for my wedding night.  My brother and his new wife just got married here on New Years Eve and had the full use of the hotel for a couple of days.  The service provided by the owners Scott and Darren was exceptional! They were extremely accommodating and their venue is stunning! The views from the hotel are outstanding and the hotel itself is classic and tastefully decorated, something I would love to own in my dreams!  The photos are fabulous but until you see it in the flesh you cannot appreciate the beauty of the place.  Everything about their stay from the planning, service, accommodation and food is worth far more than the 5 stars! Thank you so much to Scott and Darren for making everyone feel so welcome! Can't wait to return in the near future.

Wow what a beautiful place would highly recomend this hotel Scott an Darren made us all so welcome as the wedding party took over the whole hotel, nothing was to much trouble, food was great the rooms have great views it’s just perfect thanks again see you next time 🥂

New Year wedding

Abbots Brae and its owners are ah-maze-ing.  We stayed too short a time...   From the moment we located the driveway entrance, I knew we'd love it.  Because oh what a "Brae" this was... A cliffside view of stunning sunrises, a mountain of hospitality, a heap of good will.  Scott and Darren were accommodating to treat us as if we were the center of their world, somehow both without overstepping nor with us at first realizing they had a full house.  While they had other guests, everything felt at our fingertips, balanced incredibly with serene privacy for quiet moments. We enjoyed the glowlit property, the sitting room fireplace with custom-suggested drinks, and well-stocked everything.  We wanted for nothing, and the genuine smiles we received mean we'll always fondly think of Abbots Brae.  

How do I triple the stars?

Excellent well-appointed and perfectly apportioned hotel with great location offering superb views over the water. Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by the owners Scott & Darren who greeted us with a welcome drink and seated us in the traditional warm and cosy lounge, much needed after a long scenic drive (ignoring Scott`s advice of the discounted ferry travel using the local shop to purchase tickets). Before we even realised Scott had grabbed our bags and placed them in our room popping back offering to show us to our room at our leisure. This was the beginning of tireless hospitality that never ceased or faltered during our entire stay. Scott is ever present, in a friendly yet discreet manner, always with a warm and welcoming smile with friendly advice and local knowledge at hand. Scott and his team go above and beyond with the personal touch, from personal handwritten tags on provisions at the breakfast buffet to hand tied robes provided in the bedrooms the list goes on. Food was excellent and nothing was too much trouble at all if you wanted to tailor your choices away from the menu.
Would recommend this hotel to anyone who longs for the personal touch that is lacking in the market, It's a true sample of excellent local hospitality. We heard many accents around the hotel from afar and as a proud Scotsman I know Scott and his team are showcasing what Scotland can offer in terms of hospitality and local food, thank you again Scott for going that step extra!!! 
Having understood you have not had the hotel for that long we wish you every success for the future and I am sure with the service you offer you will continue to get repeat customers like us coming back with word of mouth bringing along more like us.

A real gem of personal service

From start to finish the hosts could not do enough for us.  The room was spotless and had lovely little touches such as homemade shortbread.  They were always on hand for help and information about the surrounding areas.  

It was like a home from home, they even spotted that we had a bottle of wine in the room when they were cleaning and so left 2 wine glasses for our convenience.

Breakfast was lovely, they even did us a take out breakfast as we had a ferry to catch.

The bar under the stairs was fully stocked with any drink we required.

Would recommend to anyone and we will be visiting again.

AMAZING

Spent a night here recently and it was excellent. The hotel is very nice and in a great location, and dinner was also really good. Scott and Darren were excellent hosts and couldn’t do enough for you. Would thoroughly recommend a visit! 

Great Stay

My husband and I were so awed from the moment we drove up the tree lined driveway to when we were greeted by Scott who offered a drink in the lounge while we got situated.

He was truly a thoughtful host and Darren a great chef.  So absolutely do not pass up on a dinner there!  We had such fun at the Highland games and taking a walk along pucks glen.

Such a great place!

You won’t be disappointed with Abbots Brae.  The location is enchanting, (once you get up the winding drive which is an adventure in itself). This beautiful Victorian hotel sets you back in time and is exceptionally clean, welcoming, and homely. 

We stayed in The Ardentinny room which was absolutely gorgeous, very spacious but cosy. The view was beautiful and the bed was extremely comfortable with good quality bedding, it was pure luxury!! We couldn’t fault anything!! 

The food was also delicious and Darren’s culinary skills are second to none.  Every day we had a little surprise in our room of different kinds of home baked shortbread (a lovely touch). 

Scott and Darren are very approachable lovely people and they are very knowledgable about the area which helped us a lot.  Also nothing is too much trouble for them.  We will definitely go back and as of now it is my most favourite Hotel ever and I will certainly recommend it to anyone travelling to Scotland.

Weekend At Abbots Brae 

Stayed for two nights mid August 2019 - wished we had stayed longer.  From the initial greeting by Darren to check-out by Scott the service provided by Scott and Darren was out of this world, so eager to please and their attention to detail was second to none.  Stayed in the honeymoon suite and have never seen such a large and luxurious room with a view to die for.   From the lovely Arran toiletries in the bathroom to the fresh orchid and amazing toilet roll art, and bathrobes and slippers this was 5* plus and incredible value when compared to other hotels of this class.

Breakfast was amazing, Scott couldn't have been more obliging and Darrens culinary skills were outstanding, unfortunately we were unable to sample his evening meals as we stayed on Sunday and Monday nights (the only nights they don't do dinner).

As mentioned by other reviewers the driveway is not for the faint of heart although we were driving an unfamiliar rather large rental vehicle! however once you reach the top the view is well worth the white knuckles.  If we are ever in the area again (live in Canada) we will definitely be back!
