The developers of this most important, but previously derelict, heritage building are to be congratulated and supported. It is a treasure.

Make sure to pay for parking and use parking lots. Tickets can be a good learning opportunity

We enjoyed our stay!   Very central, easy walking everywhere 😊. Helpful and friendly staff.

Walking into s toom that resembled Victoria  coach station, couldn't  move for suitcases. Sunday woken by a phone alarm in the bed above at 04h30, and on repeat,person was still in bed when I left at 08h30. Second morning 05h30 followed  by phone calls. Lockers monopolisedfor personal cooking stuff, bin full of half eaten take aways. Impossible to store any good in kitchen fridges and cupboards full. Kitchen had become a social hub and dining room a work station. OK not fault of the hostel bit the selfish occupants, however  maybe staff should  be ensuring short stay residents have access to the facilities they pay for and do not have yo put up with pretty much antisocial  behaviour. This is my third visit this year and will quite possibly  be my last,given my experience, I can't  wait to move on

Student doss house

Very convenient, friendly and accommodating staff. Common areas and rooms clean. Bathrooms built in a way that might be hard to keep floors clean, recommend pool/shower shoes.Friday night brought an element of rough sleepers hanging by the entrance hoping to be buzzed in — not a big deal, but it’s necessary for the guests to maintain boundaries since staff is sometimes not present to help if a non-guest trying to work their way in.

Great location right on the high street, access to shops and places to eat/drink. Less than a 10minute walk from the train station. 
Check-in process was fine, just a little slow, check-out was easy. Spacious rooms, with good curtains that keep the early morning light out. 
Lots of communal space, reading room was lovely. Wifi worked great.
Shared bathrooms were clean and convenient, there was enough for the size of the hallway/number of rooms.
Beds squeak when moving around, and don't feel very stable when climbing onto the top bunk. Only one light source/switch in room, so someone would have to get out of bed to turn light on/off. 
Unable to sit up properly in lower bunk bed and out room only had one chair to sit in. 
Lockers small. 
Be careful when booking this hostel if you have any mobility issues, it's in a historic building, which gives it a great charm, but the stairs are similar to those found in a castle (winding around), so there isn't much stability. 

Good value for money

Stayed just for one night here and it was great. Guy on reception was really nice. Had a private twin room and the beds were so comfy. Room was clean and had coffee and tea bags etc. opted for a shared bathroom but never even ran into anyone else. The shower was really good and easy to use. In a really nice old building as well.

Great hostel

NOT FOR BACKPACKERS, NOT A HOSTEL.
Accommodation for middle aged migrants with nowhere to live. Didn’t see a single backpack the whole time I was there, the room stunk and was boiling hot, and every occupant had multiple suitcases and giant clothes carrier bags all over the floor. One bathroom for the entire floor as the other one was out of order, so one wet room with shower, sink, and toilet, among four dorm rooms. Beds uncomfortable with the bottom bunk not big enough to even sit up in, the room was left propped open by a shoe all night, and I didn’t see a single member of staff apart from on check in and check out, clearly because reception is only staffed for short hours of the day.
Left after one night as I felt ridiculously uncomfortable.
On check out I was asked by reception if there was anything wrong and said yes everybody in there is living here. The accommodation is clearly aware of this and used the excuse that they are students. They are not university students - they were discussing jobs and places to live in other completely different areas of Scotland. And unless the university of Dundee has a shocking international mature student niche I’d be very surprised if a single one of them was a student.
Absolutely nothing against people who cannot find accommodation in the city, everything against this place advertising as a backpackers hostel whilst hosting them.

stay away

Hostel was fine - everything you need. Staff, however, were beyond horrendous. From dawn they were screaming, shouting, conducting video calls (Teams, Skype, whatever) and doing demented karaoke when folk were trying to sleep. No one slept there. Additional slamming of cupboards and stomping like the Jurassic Park (1993) T-Rex on ‘roids was an added hoot/bonus.

And what’s with the creepy peep-hole in the door? Bizarre. 

Never again.
