Emergency accomodation at 10pm at night. Duty manager let me in. My room was open and windows looked out on to Douglas st which was busy. The temperature in my room was 9C and the radiator was off and partially blocked by a wardrobe. No way to control the heat in my room. Single pillow and duvet. Slept in my clothes to keep warm. Toilet near my room and 2 showers downstairs. Conunal kitchen with tea making facilites. TV seemed old and sound not great. Tried to book an extra nite the next morning by texting the dvy manager but no rooms available. Check out was at 10 am and i asked to check out at 12 and was told it would cost 10 quid. Checked out at 10.30. Left room open. Reception hours 2pm to 10pm. Cost per nite £29  Hotel shares parking area with accident claims lawyers. Hotel within walking distance of Royal Crown museun and city centre

Ok but cold

I am writing this as a business comment, i booked the room for 2 opps to stay for 7 days. Both rooms were disgusting, there was bodily fluids on the curtains, the shower upstairs was filthy, you wouldn't keep a dog in these rooms. The 2  gentlemen in question ended up having sleep in their car for 2 nights till i could sort alternative Accommodation.

A small budget B&B with shared bathroom facilities, located about a 25 minute walk from the city centre (a little over 10 minutes from the Midlands Train Station) in a quiet, unexciting part of town. Staff were friendly, the bathrooms (all two of them, on the ground floor, with an extra toilet on the first) clean, the shower facilities adequate. My room was clean, too. Free parking in their own designated parking lot is included.

Climbing down the stairs in your underwear to get to the showers was a point of concern. The hotel was difficult to find, as it's not clearly indicated as The Elk Inn on any sign except right next to the entrance. Actually, it's *identical* to the East Midlands Guest House - it's the red brick building on the corner of Osmaston Rd and Douglas St. I don't know why they're using two different names for the same place. The room was very basic, indeed. It's only a place to sleep for a few days. There was *no* room service at all on any of the 5 days I spent there.

Very Basic B&B, But Clean and Okay for the Price

This was a super cheap stop over booked at last minute. Was a bit wary as I arrived as it looks dowdy but the reality is we get what we pay for. The room is spacious, clean, secure and easily accesible. The shared shower is spotless as is the kitchen and it's facilities. Not my taste in decor but hey ho, it is an overnight stopover. I arrive today on a wet grey day, nowhere looks wonderful in this weather. However, the car park has cctv which is reassuring. Overall, I have to say it is a very fair price for a basic budget stopover. The reception are friendly and helpful which is always a bonus too.

A nights stay

I was unpleasantly surprised just how poor this guest house was as a place to stay. I will not forget the smell of damp in the room I had. It was very cold, the heating was on very low at night and not at all during the day. This is the first time I have ever had to sleep wearing a pullover and a fleece together just to keep warm. It was a toss up between opening the window to help ease the damp smell and close the window as it was so cold. The road right next to the guesthouse is busy, which didn't help either.
 Even the towel provided from the hotel smelled bad. I replaced the towel and the new one was just the same....
 On a positive note there is a kitchen with a microwave, jettle, sink and fridge; which was useful.
 There is no way I would ever even think of staying there again.

Very poor guesthouse

I have never known such poor customer service and professionalism. so not come here. atrocious help, hideous rooms, and even worse staff. i can't believe i even considered this silly place. I called and you would have thought they didnt even want the booking

DON'T DO IT TO YOURSELF

Facilities arent great, shared showers and kitchen, more like a hostel.
Bit like the setting of a horror movie, but i quite enjoyed that.
The bloke who checked us in was really nice, he was eastern European which also added to the 'hostel movie' ambience, but again, this is something I quite enjoyed.
If your looking for a place to lay your head and nothing more, its ideal, and this is what we wanted, so I am happy. Cant expect the Hilton at 17.50 each.
I would reccomend.
