We had a wonderful 2 night stay here in May 2022. The room was very comfortable, clean, and well appointed. The breakfast was the best we have ever had at a B&B, and we have stayed at a lot of B&B's. We had a wonderful conversation at breakfast with Suzanne, and could have stayed all day and talked if we hadn't had other plans.

Wonderful stay

Absolutely fabulous B & B, Suzanne was a most generous and welcoming host. Poplar House is a wonderful place to stay. We can highly recommend this amazing place and it’s ideally located for public transport into Bath. We will hopefully be able ti make it back soon. Thank you Suzanne for making our stay truly memorable.

Amazing B & B, with lots of character

Beautiful house, fabulous rooms,lovely bathroom.
Suzanne gave us a warm welcome, the breakfast was huge , so much choice and great quality produce. We could park on site .I would definitely stay here again .
The area has shops restaurants so we could have a drink and walk back …

Brilliant, beautiful, fabulous!!!

Stayed at Poplar House for the second time recently & it didn't disappoint. This  beautiful period  property is run by the properitor Suzanne who is the perfect host. We were made to feel very much at home and welcomed.  The breakfast was excellent and the rooms spotless and comfortable. Bath centre is accessible by a local bus route through Batheaston or walk along the canal. During the summertime, you can catch a tourist boat  takes you in by the river Avon.  We certainly will be returning to Poplar House

Yesterday we drove from Tavistock to Batheaston following instruction of satnav.....never again will I trust a satnav. A simple 2 hour + journey turned into the nightmare on any street. The one redeeming thing was the reception we got from Susanne the proprietress of Poplar House. As a find on the old tinternet I did myself proud, after the harrowing journey through the streets and back lanes of Bath, we found ourselves at the nicest B&B I have ever been to. The reason for journey was to attend the funeral of a dear friend to day. The house was an old house, a large house, a clean house and a restful house decorated and furnished in a really elegant but down to earth way, parts of the house were Jacobean parts were Tudor. We were greeted at the door by Susanne and shown to our room, after booking in a private room off the hall, our very spacious room, with all the usual free coffee/tea, biscuit and to my surprise sweets, decked out in my wifes favourite colour green, across the landing was a sitting for our use should we need it. The bed was one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on in a B&B and the shower was the biggest I have ever used in a B&B and being a big fella that was a great surprise. We had a choice of when we wanted breakfast any time up until 10.00. Came down to an amazing dining room laid out for just us, as no one else was staying, with a full continental breakfast, a proper continental breakfast, on the table or if we preferred we could have a cooked breakfast nothing was too much trouble and the coffee was to die for. Susanne was very engaging host and turned out she and my  wife quite a few things in common, love of art books poetry and cats to name but a few. If you are going to Bath for any reason and need some where to rest your head. I suggest you give Susanne a ring and book a room you will not be sorry we weren't. We were told if we were going into Bath to leave the car at the house and catch the bus no charge and when we travel to Bath again, without the aid of satnav, will certainly stay there again if they are not booked up. The wifi was free the parking was free and the breakfast was free a bargain in todays market.

The Real Treat

This is such a wonderful place to stay while in the area. The house is so interesting and the owner a lovely lady. Our room was spacious, exceptionally clean and so comfortable. The location is perfect as there are frequent buses to the city. Breakfast was excellent for us. This was the last night of a 11 night tour and we were getting a little tired of cooked breakfasts.  Although hot food was avaiable we were more than happy with the continental choices.

An amazing stay.

Ours was a very brief visit.  We had been held up on our way and wanted to have as much time in Bath as possible so we parked up and checked in around 1pm and didn't get back to use our room until around 10pm.  Parking was easy and we were given the key on arrival and shown around so it was a simple case of heading straight to our room on return.  The room was large and spotless and we had a comfortable nights sleep and had morning coffee in our own lounge on the 1st floor.  Breakfast was fresh and plentiful and although we had set our mind on a full english breakfast, by the time we had eaten fruit, yoghurt and croissants we only managed egg and bacon but that was lovely.  The owner was very chatty and informative and we would happily stay again.  
I would recommend if you really only want a full english, let the owner know on arrival and I'm sure she will have it on the go for your booked breakfast time so you can skip the fruit etc.

Lovely welcome and a comfortable stay

We stayed here from Friday to Monday and we had a great time. The property is excellent and the owner, Suzanne, is a really nice & friendly person, with plenty of suggestions of what/where to do/go in the city. We had the breakfast during our stay which was also excellent, with plenty of choice to have. The room ( in the loft) was well furbished with excellent bed and shower facilities. Car parking available on site. However, we got the bus in and out each day ( watch out for the service 3 and 3A for reliability, as it seemed to me that the published timetable is a loose interpretation of the reality......) We would recommend this property to all and we hope to come back for a longer stay.

weekend break

Spent a night at this lovely B and B - very spacious bedroom and sitting room opposite.  Very peaceful and a superb breakfast!  The host is very friendly and helpful.  Would certainly recommend and hope to return!

A lovely   stay

We have just had a 2 night stay at this wonderful Guest house  
Everything was superb,  we arrived very early and Susanne welcomed us (and Jasper the cat)  Susanne showed us where our room would be and she would have it ready in an hour, after an afternoon in Bath, we came back and wow, what a room and bathroom we had !
Everything was beautifully presented and spotlessly clean , all the little extras were great  Susanne has a real eye for detail!
The breakfast was more than one could ask for absolutely superb !
Susanne is so welcoming,  and knowledgeable! Nothing is too much trouble!
Beautiful and well worth a stay.
