Well worth a visit if wanting b/b in this beautiful area. Comfy and spacious rooms with the the added bonus of having a kettle, toaster and microwave in your room ( really like your own self contained cottage) . Lovely breakfast in the owner's conservatory which was served by Jenna who always had a smile and time to chat with us. Definitely book again.

Just had a family weekend break at the Burnside. Everything perfect, comfortable and clean chalets, perfect for family holidays. Jenna was the perfect host providing amazing breakfasts including Vegan for 2 of us. The Burnside is perfect for walking, touring the area with popular destinations only a short drive away and also with 2 pubs only a short walk away.

Family weekend away

We booked all four cottages for weekend for our family reunion/birthday party (14 people). Cottages are super cozy and there is heaps of space for kids to run around. Loved the chickens and horses. Jenna is great host and serves amazing (vegan and non vegan) breakfast. We had two vegans in our group and she was able to accommodate them well. Lots of nice walks around and nice village pub in walkable distance.

Definitely recommend to stay. Good for big families / groups for get together. 

Cosy palce to stay 

Been to The Burnside this weekend with large family group. Would highly recommend this b&b. Stayed in the Kingfisher lodge. Very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was first class. Very friendly and accommodating hosts. Isobel 

Family weekend celebration

This was a great combination of self catering and BnB. The cottage was well equipped and breakfast in the main house was freshly cooked and delicious everyday.
Host, Jenna, friendly and helpful with local knowledge.
It was a very quiet location at edge of the village and suited us as a couple with own car very well

Very good stay

From the moment we arrived it was a joy to stay here. The location is idyllic for relaxation, beautiful scenery. Lulu the dog loved meeting the chickens. The chalets are very cosy and I had the best 2 nights sleep. Breakfast was extremely good .

We stayed in the 'Robin' chalet for two nights.  Well equipped, clean accommodation which, although we stayed B & B, we also had a small lounge/kitchen in our chalet to self cater if we wanted.  Great to sit and relax in on an evening.  The gardens/grounds are beautiful, as is the surrounding area of Edmondbyers.  Handy to walk into the village to either pubs to eat out.    A great base to visit the surrounding area from, go walking or cycling.   Jenna is a marvellous host and the breakfasts are the best we've had in a very long time.  A good choice of fresh fruits, cereals, toast, an amazing full English breakfast with free range eggs from Jenna's girls who you will see in the grounds and lovely coffee.   Breakfast is served in the main house in a lovely light conservatory with views to the garden.  We will definitely return and would recommend to anyone.

Great overnight stop. Friendly staff and great breakfast. Really recommend The Burnside to everyone.Our hostess went out of her way to help us during our stay and I can thoroughly recommend the full English breakfast. Beds were comfortable and rooms really clean.

Fab stop and very friendly hostess who couldn’t have been nicer to our group of cyclists doing the C2C. Great breakfast

We stayed for a couple of nights, great location and brilliant we could take our dog with us. Jenna was an excellent host and the breakfast and facilities are first class.

Lovely B&B

Breakfast was 5 star! Everything plus more was on offer and absolutely beautifully laid out on designated tables in the huge conservatory in the main building.
The land that the property sits on is an absolute treat in itself. Surrounded by lush greenery where dog owners could walk their dogs. There was a huge area with trees and a pond with a fairytale-like, hillside backdrop of trees and little warrens created by the many rabbits that bobbed around all day.  It reminded me of a scene from The Hobbit!! The burn itself also flowed right along the bottom of the garden. During our walks around the gardens we delighted in being greeted by a beautiful horse in the top field and the most friendly and funny chickens that slept in their enclosure by night but wandered about the entire grounds of the property through the day, coming right up to our front doors. 

Jenna was a perfect hostess. Her manner was so approachable and friendly and we really liked her from the moment we arrived. She and Martin work so hard to make sure everything is just so for their customers. 
We felt so welcome and comfortable there.

There was a TV and Wifi in our accommodation but we hardly used it. It was such a treat to just open the top half of our door (had it not have been for the dogs, we would have opened the entire door) and take in the fresh air and the subtle sounds of pure countryside. It was heaven!! Forgive me if i sound like i've never been to the country before! I have, of course, but this experience felt as though i was part of it too and so felt compelled to wax lyrical about it!
