We should have stayed here for our entire visit not just one night! Massive thank you to Fiona for helping me out when the airbnb we had, had not hot water or heating (in the middle of winter!) so she very kindly helped me and our family out! You are a gem!
I had seen some reviews online the night earlier but the refurb is simply stunning! So beautifully appointed! Only thing missing is a dice so the kids could toss for the top bunk!!!
We had lunch at Laggan’s other site and at Graze. Delicious! That’s another review itself!
No other place to stay in Gatehouse of Fleet if you ask me!

Galloway Dreams

We enjoyed a one night stay at the Murray Arms in February half term and were not disappointed! It is absolutely gorgeous. The whole place has been done out to an incredibly high standard and the attention to detail is superb. We stayed in room 11, and it was perfect. It was beautifully decorated, cosy, warm and really comfortable. We all had a great nights sleep! In the morning we enjoyed a delicious breakfast before we headed on our way. We will definitely be staying here again!

Well worth a visit!

Gatehouse holds a really special place in our family hearts. For over 50 years we have spent many a happy holiday here and to return this past weekend with my mother to reminisce and remember this beautiful place was really special. 
Murray Arms was always the place we came back then for morning coffee so to return and see the interior so up to date but also keeping the traditional decor that we remembered so well.
The rooms we booked were perfect for our family group, especially our dog, the only downside was the key cards weren't  readily available on arrival but that was quickly sorted, and also the shower water was not at all hot in the morning and  as the bathroom light automatically switched off after 7 seconds , the shower was not the best experience. Overall though we had a lovely stay and hope to return soon.

Beautiful Gatehouse of Fleet

We had a 2 night stay in room 1. Beautiful, well appointed  room,  with 4 poster bed. Easy to check-in.  Ate at Gather on 1st night, which was a beautiful  venue with lovely staff and food. Breakfast was so so on 1st morning, but waiting staff lovely. Really lovely breakfast on 2nd morning. 
Special mention about Fiona on reception. She was fabulous, rearranging our visit due to ill health. So pleasant and helpful. Will definitely  go back, and the restaurant on site is planned to open later this year.

A lovely treat

Hotel and room are finished to high standard. My husband and I were staying here for date night we ate at gather which was great and then spent the evening here, we have stayed at the snugs a lot and love them but I felt this experience was even to a higher standard. There was a slight issue over night the fire alarm when off due to a system error/ fault but was only for few moments. 
I would definitely want to return. 

Fantastic hotel

High quality furnishings and decor. Extremely comfortable and relaxing stay. Breakfast was very tasty with top quality ingredients. Good size portions. Loved the Robert Burns theme in the hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again

Enjoyable stay

Stayed as a family of 3 at The Murray Arms in Room 15 in August. The hotel and rooms are lovely, and I like the self check-in facility however there is one main thing that would prevent us from coming back. This being the bathroom light is on a sensor and also operates the fan, so every time you use the bathroom, the light and the fan come on (even in the daylight) and runs for approx 30 minutes, which is wasting energy instead of saving it. This is very annoying, especially for night trips to the bathroom and for the poor person sleeping in the single bed right opposite the door (likely to be the child), so spoiling a good night's sleep. I would implore the owners to consider fitting two separate switches for the light and the fan to solve this issue. Also the shower in room 15 would be easier to access (not so much of a squeeze) if the shower opened on the side nearest the door instead of next to the toilet. I appreciate the hotel hasn't been in the new owners hands long but some other things to improve the guests experience are: 1. It would be helpful to have a sign at the side of the hotel where the main car parking spaces are directing guests to the entrance as it is easy to mistake the side entrance as the main one. 2. Provide information on how the unattended bar works, as a sign saying ring the ball and be patient puts people off from using it. And finally on the booking confirmation e-mail it states the breakfast is just continental, when it is actually a small continental and cooked to order one (which is very good and breakfast staff very nice). We have family in the area and visit several times a year and we would consider staying again if the light/fan issue was addressed in the room. 


Good, but room for improvement.

Stayed one night at the newly refurbished Murray Arms. Having stayed/used other accomodation in the ever expanding Laggan portfolio, it has the usual attention to detail, stylish interior and the rooms were comfortable and breakfast good . Only criticism would be the fact the bathroom light/can go on as soon as you open the door which means you wake your partner using loo in night! Not great design feature. Also corridors have lingering musty smell of the Murray Arms of bygone days which I suspect will take a while to get rid of. Also there is no restaurant and Gather shuts at 5.00 - no mention on their website of the Masonic Arms next door who do dinner - luckily we already knew about it and booked a table.

Stylish refurbishment

Excellent accommodation in a beautiful period building. Lovely newly refurbished rooms to a high standard.  Breakfast was superb with plenty of choice.
Brilliant staff. Great location with ample parking outside the hotel.

The perfect place to stay in Gatehouse of Fleet 

Clean tidy well appointed the people at Laggan are doing a fabulous job in reinventing the hotel  and I hope to return in the autumn. Bedrooms are well finished and relaxing , couldn’t find any faults , great spot! Special mention to the staff who made our stay a warm one and breakfast service was excellent
