We went to the Fox and Pheasant last Saturday 17th Feb 2024 for a family birthday meal, its a lovely old pub/hotel, the food was excellent and arrived in good time nice and hot, really good quality home cooked food you cant ask for any better. The service was fabulous and every request was no problem, the children where looked after and made to feel at home along with the other customers . We will be back soon and enjoy the experience again,

Good food good service good time had by all

We left it late to book for sunday lunch but glad we did phone ahead because it was busy and rightly so. My girlfriend is vegetarian and loved that they could make her a mushroom Wellington with all the sunday lunch trimmings,i opted for the slow braised beef fetherblade,both were cooked extremely well, the vegetables were well seasoned and lovely portion size .We both enjoyed the atmosphere, roaring fire and proper country pub and will most definitely will return. 

Last minute Sunday lunch booking.

We booked this for a break for new year for one night. We ate in the pub. We stayed on the Sunday so had the roast dinner. The lamb was lovely. The portions are huge. We also had the halloumi for a starter which was really nice and I had the apple and blackberry crumble for dessert. All the food was really tasty and the staff were really attentive. The room was lovely and comfortable and we really enjoyed our stay. We had a dog and the pub was dog friendly, which was great for us. I’d recommend it and we would go back.

Shamazing!!! If I would be asked to choose food to eat till end of my life - it would be this pub chef’s cooked meals. 👌 we visited a lot of placeses in the UK. This one the best so far!!!!🤩👌 deffenitely coming back♥️

The best of the best!

We booked to eat here - a group of 5 - 4 humans and a dog . The booking was for The Snug on account of the canine member but when we arrived -Tuesday midday- The Snug was full. We were accommodated in the upstairs dining room without any problem. The pub was very busy and there was just one waitress - she did an amazing job and remained pleasant and accommodating throughout. Our meals were excellent - very generous, very tasty and very well priced . Two of us decided to share a pizza and have a side salad each - between us we managed just half the pizza( the remainder went home with us in a box ) and it was one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had. Nothing mean about the toppings! We were staying with a relative who lives relatively locally to the pub - wish we were local too!

Our second overnight stay which included dinner and breakfast the next morning was just as wonderful as our first last year.  This place is a gem in all respects and we couldn't have been more delighted.  Thank you so much for making us so welcome again.

A gem in all respects

Well another week another review but this is a very positive one, if you look at my last review of the Highland Drove and the utter rubbish that the owner put on accusing me of lying and having ulterior motives for my review, I can assure you that we are just a normal couple who enjoy eating out most weekends. So I thought lets compare the main course of fish and chips, now the one I had last week at the Highland Drove was atrocious, batter was raw as was the fish but the owner was adamant it was alright and properly cooked, by the way this was after I sent the starter back twice, anyways back to the review of tonight's eatery , so we hadn't been to the Fox and Pheasant for a while but we got a gift voucher for Christmas so we went to cash this in. 
We were promptly seated and menus given and drinks order taken, so I ordered the king prawn with chilly and garlic oil which was fine prawns could have been a bit bigger but everything was hot and cooked spot on, onto the mains my partner ordered the mushroom wellington  which came with proper chips and salad, this was excellent I was told, I ordered the fish and chips as a comparison to last week, now when this arrived it was like chalk and cheese against last weeks effort, batter crispy on both top and bottom, fish beautifully flaky  and cooked through, proper chips, mushy peas and tartar sauce could not fault it, very generous helping as well so very pleased with the whole meal,the chap serving us was attentive but not overpowering all in all a really pleasant dining experience we would definitely return again.

Good food and pleasant service, proper country pub

This is a wonderful little find in the picturesque village of Armathwaite. We have eaten here many times with family who live locally and every meal has been absolutely splendid. However this was the first time we have stayed overnight. It was wonderful! The rooms are cosy yet there is plenty of space in the room. The en suites are superb. The rooms are clean and you’re guaranteed a good night sleep here. The breakfast in the morning is absolutely delicious! The staff are welcoming and extremely attentive to every need you might have. A lovely place for meals and accommodation and would definitely recommend!

Wonderful accommodation! 

2 night stay at this fantastic pub. Spotless, comfy rooms with one of the best beds I have slept in. Provided a bed, 2 bowls and a towel for our dog which were lovely unexpected extras.  Lovely views from both rooms. On the bend of the road which had farm traffic of a day but quiet overnight. In a perfectly quiet location away from the usual crowds of The Lakes which was delightful for us. On the beautiful River Eden with walks from the doorstep so you can really relax with no need to get in the car. Weather was beautiful so a walk then sitting in the beer garden what's not to like? Staff really friendly and pub was well frequented by locals and we can see why. Food delicious, huge portions and great value for money. 
Would definitely like to return!

Relaxation

We were on a short break in the Eden Valley and it was recommended by friends that we try out this  pub for dinner. the food was really very good, the atmosphere amazing and had a good mix of friendly locals and visitors. It is dog friendly, has a nice beer garden and a well stocked bar of quality beers. The food and drink was very reasonably priced.  The pub is situated on the bank of the River Eden and well worth a visit.
