We were going to the Twinwood Festival but wanted to stay in a Hotel as we do not do camping 
We found the loveliest Hotel in the Queens Head in Milton Ernest 
Although times are still tuff for this trade following the pandemic the General Manager Jayne has done a fantastic job in getting this place up and running.
The Hotel is in need of a bit of TLC but the staff and Manager have no misconceptions of that - speaking to Jayne who I have to say a nicer, friendlier and a true professional you could not want to meet, knows the issue and what to do to put it right - Rome was not built in a day and it will take time patience and money to get it right - but with the best business plan and determination this place will soon be turned into the most sort after Hotel - A great helping hand in Richard will make sure this is a success - at the moment it is still the place to stay - clean rooms - relaxing atmosphere - nice breakfast and good beer on tap - what more can you want all at a reasonable price too - I would totally recommend this Hotel if you are looking for somewhere to stay in this area - Thank you Jayne and Team for making our long weekend stay even more special - Kevin & Bev

Queens Head Hotel - Milton Ernest - Bedford

On our regular visits, we have come to know that The Queens Head can not be beaten for personal service, attention to detail, and good food at a reasonable price. In short, good old fashioned, traditional care and service, in a 17th.century building that enhances the courtesies of another age. Even though elderly, and mobility impaired, we are made so very welcome, and nothing is too much trouble, always the greatest of pleasures to be there. Thank you.

A dozen old friends met for dinner and an overnight stay to celebrate a "big birthday" and we could not have chosen anywhere better. A group of friends arrived and made new friends while we were there, one of whom is a first-rate chef. Jane and her team are rebuilding the business after the covid slump and they deserve to succeed. The accommodation is in a seventeenth-eighteenth century building. The rooms are individual and quaint. The facilities are excellent. The team could not do enough to help us and it was a wrench to leave.  The food, which included some 1970s favourites, all had interesting touches. For example, a prawn cocktail that was a cocktail of prawns rather than a glass of lettuce and seafood sauce.  The thing we will remember most is the warmth of the people, which was natural and unforced, although I have rarely seen a team work so hard to please their customers. We are looking for an excuse to go back.

Spooky hallowe’en

At last the Queens head is open again under new management The food, wow, not a vast menu but my goodness they have a great chef, he  even comes out to make sure the customers enjoyed their meal, which shows  confidence in his cooking,  the food really is that  good, their ribeye steak is to die for, I asked the chef how he makes it have such wonderful flavour, his reply was a few fresh herbs well rested and a lot of love.Can certainly recommend the Queens Head.P. S.
The Chefs name is Valay.

Queens head reopened at last

Great to see the Queens Head reopened under new management.  Really friendly staff couldn't do more to make you feel welcome.  Reduced menu but very nice. Chef came out to check everything was good,  which it was.

Great cosy pub

I met with friends at this pub which has recently opened under new management, for a British BBQ and although the weather was not as kind as it could have been, the staff were all so friendly and welcoming. The food was absolutely fabulous and a real must if you live your meat, although there were interesting vegan options for those who don’t! 
It was unbelievable tender and delicious.
I can’t wait to go back again. 

Sunday BBQ outstanding food

Me, my mum and my 2 sisters came in for a spot of lunch after a lovely day together. The outside looked very promising but as soon as we entered we knew it was a mistake... The manager had served us very reluctantly, she was so rude!! She told my mum who was showing us a video of my little brother on her phone to turn it off as it was disturbing the other guests (there was only us and a family with a baby in) My sister got her food and asked politely for some mint sauce to which she was told no because they don’t have any. The manager then began to argue with my sister because she wanted mint sauce with her pie.. The manager then left (for her break) and we had another lady called Shelly who was absolutely wonderful. The food was beautiful and the chef Liam was also lovely and told us that they do in fact have mint sauce!! The management that replies to all of these comments is in fact the one who made us have a bad experience.


A dampener on a wonderful day

Pleasantly surprised at how comfortable we felt staying here. The hotel main building is very old and pretty and the interior was very 90's, not every ones cup of tea but we loved the nostalgia and felt quite at home. The room was very warm and cosy with original wood beamed ceiling and plenty of low lighting. The bathroom was small but clean and had everything we needed. Tea and coffee facility's and storage space also. Great little restaurant and bar downstairs serving good homely food. Friendly and helpful staff and great value for money. Would definitely go back. A great pit stop if your passing through.

A cosy night in January

Went in today for lunch, staff very welcoming & very attentive, there was quite a lot of people eating but we were served straight away with drinks & ordering our meal, couldn’t fault them. Food was extremely nice & enjoyed by all. Must say I haven’t been in a restaurant for sometime where everything was spot on, would definitely go again & recommend.
