Good hotel, well equipped rooms. Very nice sea view. Delicious and fresh food. Parking nearby. The staff is very friendly. We were satisfied. While our car was being repaired, we managed to explore the surroundings, relax and gain strength for the next stage of our journey.

Good hotel

We booked two nights last minute on Expedia and weren’t sure what to expect.  But the room was absolutely immaculate and our room overlooked the ocean with a lovely view of the castle.

Accommodations were quite simple, but clean clean clean and entirely as advertised.  Staff were friendly and accommodating.  Parking is valet across the street but totally safe and next to a police station. 

Also the food was a big win.  Breakfast and dinner was included so we didn’t have the highest expectations.  But it was really fantastic.  In particular the dinner - fresh and delicious served in hearty quantities.

We really enjoyed our stay here.  Even though it is basic, it is clean, safe, functional with an ocean view.  It’s not the four seasons, but it’s great value for a couple nights.

Note that Kizcalesi isn’t for everyone - a lot of family oriented but quite loud nightlife.  There is a beach out front and only a few minutes walk to the museum beach club which was awesome.

Very Clean, Great Value

It was nice and clean but very very basic. Staf was good. Music at the beach was disturbing (at least for me). Breakfast was sad. Can be improved. I didn't have it.

Hotel is on the beach overlooking Kızkalesi castle (island). Amenities and fixtures and room are in line with the price range - nothing special but not bad. The parking can be in front of the hotel but we parked on the street nearby and left our car there. They offer a standard Turkish breakfast. The view of the castle from the room was nice. There are a lot of restaurants within walking distance. The wifi was good enough to make voice calls to the US.

Tucked away in a quiet side road is this delightful small hotel.
The rooms are comfortable with balconies, fridge, ensuite shower, air-conditioning and excellent ceiling fans.
Yakup the proprietor is amazingly helpful in planning visits to surrounding places especially archeological sites. It is a very short walk to the promenade and beach for a pre-breakfast swim.
Brekfast is excellent and can be taken in a lovely garden under the fruit trees.
Kizkalesi is a charming resort with two interesting castles.

Its in the municipality (sort of a state) of Mersin - its actually in Kizkalesi which is about an hour west of the city of Mersin - believe us - we drove it twice since we first drove to Mersin and had to retrace our steps!!  

Once we did arrive, the area around the hotel seems to be rather sketchy.  One of the staff had us move our car under a street light by the hotel entrance which was appreciated.  Our room was clean and the shower worked well.  The bedding was average but clean and we had a small fridge.  The room decor seemed to be what's available and was perfectly acceptable.  And in the morning, the breakfast was good and the hotel gardens are beautiful.  We enjoyed chatting with our host and he provided some ideas on great stops along our proposed route.  

This was a great spot for an overnight stay enroute, but we don't think we would recommend it for an extended stay.

This hotel is NOT in the city of Mersin!

My husband and I stayed here for 3 days in September, outside of peak time. We arrived after long bus trip and I had Istanbul belly... Not well.
Jacob the owner was so friendly and recommended his lentil soup, which was wonderful. Great breakfasts in the garden. Hubby loved the cooked omelets. 
Rooms are basic but functional and reasonably priced, bed is comfortable and clean. 
Would recommend to fellow travelers

Good value and very friendly

We stayed at the Yaka Hotel for three nights and loved it. Yakup and his staff were so helpful and friendly. The Hotel is spotless and we felt very comfortable. Yakup also arranged emergency dental treatment (for an abscessed tooth - nasty) for me in Mersin with his dentist friend ... on a Saturday!  We'd like to come back.

Excellent Stay

My husband and I, we really had a great 10 day vacation at Yaka, and we enjoyed the warm and discreet hospitality of the hotel owner and the staff, the splendid garden and the outstandingly tasty and diversified meals. We benefited from precious indications about the many and extremely interesting historical sites and ruines in the area, which brought value to our vacation. There was one of the most relaxing stay in the last decade, due to spledid beach and water, silence and comfort in the hotel, and particularly due to the owner's outstanding personality that marks the design and the hotel environment.
My advice is to go to Yaka if you are tired, in need of time for reading and sleep and if you really need to visit outstanding archaelogical and historical treasures. You will be received as a family member and you will enjoy every moment there.
