I found Savanna and Ocean hostel by mistake, I was lost and looking for a different hotel. I went in to get directions and the atmosphere was so welcoming and beautiful, I decided to stay. The staff is quite helpful (as a solo female traveler, I did not feel sexually harassed or put off by the staff).They were kind but were not overly friendly. I stayed in a dorm and was very happy with my accommodations. It's clean and they have hot water in the showers! There's private beach access very close by, which is very nice, sun beds and a beachside bare are included. I recommend anyone stay here, it's reasonably priced and an enjoyable place to be. I'll definitely return if I find myself in Zanzibar again.

Zanzibar kitetrip

This hotel/hostel is really nice, the central area is beautiful, but the food is overpriced and obviously aimed at foreign tourists who have no idea what things actually cost in Tanzania. Regardless the staff are super helpful and the location great. The beachside bar and beds area probably the best thing about staying here. Otherwise it's very hard to meet people and socialize. A lot of organised groups and couples, but no real relaxed beachside vibe. Ok for a night or two if just visiting or passing through 

Nice place but no vibe 

The location is good on the east coast of Zanzibar. The Bungalow we had was really hot (only a fan, no AC), and the shower was very run down and a bit dirty. On a happier note, the communication on emial was really good, and the people in the reception was really friendly and helpful.

Budget-friendly option

The hotel itself was quite nice, the dining area was okay and the food they served was not the best but alright. Really nice and quiet area above the restaurant to chill at night. In my opinion an excellent location, only a few minutes from the beach. The staff was friendly and helpful. But the room we stayed at SUCKED! It was a room for 8 people with bunk beds and NO AIR CONDITING! Like seriously? It was nearly impossible to get a decent sleep! We asked 3x at the reception if they could fix it but for the 4 days we stayed there no one came to take a look and fix it! They could at least have given us an extra fan! Also we had two bathrooms We shared, shower in both of them but only one worked. Horrible room!
