Sunday inn is located along side of very famous steep steps. Only 57 steps from 九份 police station. Great view of fireworks everyday from roof top. Very near from night markets and famous tea restrants with beautiful lanterns.The owner can speak Japanese so well and he cooks nice Taiwanese breakfast for you. Water and coffee are free.Free WiFi,too.

It is a nice hotel with friendly staffs. The location is amazing!

We stayed with 3 persons in the 4 person room. The hotel is smack dab in the middle of the action, which also means you'll have to climb quite a number of stairs with your luggage to reach it. The hotel itself also doesn't have an elevator, so even more stairs to climb. But you will be awarded with an amazing view of the city and sea, we spend hours just looking out of the windows. In the morning a typically, fresh cooked, Taiwanese breakfast is served, by the amazingly cute owners. Do keep in mind that linnen are not changed during your stay and you have to provide your own towels (not the fault of the hotel, but the 3rd party we booked at didn't inform us about this).
If you want to get an authentic experience in an amazingly cute hotel in the middle of the action you should consider this hotel when staying in Jiufen.

Great views in the middle of the action

Right near the famous stairs, this place can be entered through the ceramics shop by accessing the sliding door next to the pay counter. 

We had a cooked breakfast every morning and it was fantastic. You can let them know any dietary requirements and they'll be happy to oblige. 

This place takes cash payment only, so make sure you have cash to pay for your accommodation. Rooms come with all toiletries and 2 free bottles of water. 

The roof deck is very comfy and great for relaxation and watching the sun set. We recommend getting some snacks and beer and just chill at the end of the day. 

Location is great and very close to the departing bus stop so you don't need to walk upstairs with heavy luggage. The ceramics shop is great for souvenirs! We bought a whole heap of stuff; it's not the cheapest but they are hand made by the staff and in Taiwan and are very beautiful. 

Views from our premium room were fabulous. Maybe the power pole could've disappeared but we weren't staying there just to look out the window all day. 

Worth every penny and would stay there again in a heartbeat. 

Cosy, comfy and wonderful 

We arrived here late in the afternoon on a miserable rainy day. We were soaked to the bone. We were a little confused finding the entrance to the hotel at first, you actually have to walk through a little ceramic shop (which has 3 kitties who did not want to be pet or visited, but were cute) to get to it. The owner is incredibly laid-back and chill and speaks enough English that he can probably deal with most situations. We booked a room with a view of the mountain and he showed us around quickly and made sure we had everything. The room also had a small heater, which we were grateful for, because it helped us dry our stuff off and it was a little chilly in there at night. Our view was unfortunately compromised on account of all the rain (and tons of fog), but from what we could see it was a very pretty view. 

The room is a little on the small side, so if you're just doing an overnight stay, bring as little luggage as you can (we just had two small day bags). The bed was incredibly comfortable and made the room feel more cozy. The bedroom and the bathroom are kind of all one room, but there is a big sliding sort of shower door that separates the bathroom from the bedroom. Fortunately there was enough room to hang up our damp clothes. 

After we explored the area for a bit (the hotel is in a perfect location for visiting the historical part of town), we decided we might try to go into Keelung and check out the night market. We asked the owner about it, and wanted to double check how late we could come back (because the doors to the shop would have to be open somehow) just in case. He kept assuring us not to worry about it too much and to have fun, but said it would be good to be back before midnight if we still wanted to see the teahouse lit up. Turns out they kind of put this hallway thing in so you can walk through to the hotel but the shop is inaccessible. 

We had a great sleep, and I used the shower there too, nice hot water and okay pressure. We went down for breakfast the next morning and the only thing I saw was congee. I was kinda sad because I'm not a huge fan of it and was hoping for something else. Turns out I shouldn't have worried because he started cooking up a storm. He had all kinds of food for us - steamed pork dumplings, fried veggies, eggs... good coffee too. You will not go hungry here, and he was a really good cook too. It definitely felt like more of a homestay than a B&B or hotel. I absolutely recommend this hotel, and if I come to Jiufen again (our visit was somewhat sullied with poor weather and me having the flu) I would stay here.

Cozy Room and Laid-Back Owner Who Will Spoil You At Breakfast

Owners nice and were helpful with directions (in advance via email, were accurate - from main road and main bus stop at base of town you just walk up a small series of steps and Sunday Inn is on the left just near the police station). You enter via a small ceramics shop. This is a great location - you walk up to Juifen main old part with the market, eateries and shops, and when finished for the day or evening you get the easy stepping back downhill.

Had the room on the top floor just outside the rooftop patio. It has 2 x queen beds (quiet soft), en-suite with shower & toilet in it. Another separate toilet next to en-suite. Hand basin just outside both. Worked well as us 3 female family adults travelling together. Small table and chairs etc. Free WiFi worked well. Good sized flat screen TV. Heater in room (we didn’t need). Hairdryer, toiletries etc provided but no towels (only little hand towels). Room was clean but not exceptionally so.

Breakfast plentiful; traditional and few varieties of food. 

Curtains did not completely cover windows so we had to improvise with some hair clips to cover light coming in a bit (bring eye mask if you like pitch black for sleeping as I do). They need to provide normal sized towels as this was a pain showering and drying off with something the size of a tea towel (and very thin). Only found 1 PowerPoint in room which heater was plugged into.

In saying the above we would stay again (with eye mask and bring a towel).

Great location. Good breaky. Needs towels & better curtains in top flr room.

Pros: 
1. Location is good. It's very near to the famous A-mei Tea House. It has a police station nearby too so security wise, it's perfect.
2. We booked a 6-pax room, it was really spacious and clean. The room had a great view too! Toiletries like body soap and shampoo are provided. Hair dryer is provided too! 
3. We absolutely loved the breakfast. The owner prepared steamed meat buns, porridge with some fried eggs, fried veges and fish balls. Delicious and healthy! 
Cons:
1. Although the location was convenient, it was not easy to find. The owner had emailed to us details regarding the location but we still couldn't find it ourselves. Google maps doesn't work well in Taiwan. In the end the owner had to guide us from 7-11.
2. The heater didn't work very well for our 6 pax room. We also find that the quilt weren't big enough for 2 people sharing and not warm enough for cold winter nights.
3. Our room was directly facing the street so if there were any loud passerby, it would be noisy.


Overall it was worth the value

Pros:
Great location at the bottom of the Old Street.
A couple of steps from a bus station.
Very friendly and helpful owner.
Roof terrace with a beautiful view overlooking the sea. Can be enjoyed during the day and at night as well.
Nice breakfast cooked by the owner
Bright room with lots of windows.
Walking distance to all attractions and restaurants
Reasonable price – we were able to book a room at the last minute
Cons:
Few steps to consider while carrying luggage
The room we stayed in was old and didn’t have any shelves or closet.
The curtains were tricky to keep the room dark.
There is no shower enclosure in the bathroom. Even the toilet gets wet when showering.
Depending on the weather (rain) the smell from the bathroom pipes is overwhelming.
The room had not been cleaned during a day.
Tip:
Great coffee shop “Saint Peter” at the bottom of the steps serving the best pineapple cakes made on the premises we’ve have eaten in Taiwan.


Good last minute budget stay

There is a decoration work at the front door. I just wonder the hostel is closed.
