Hestraviken Hotel & Spa

We stayed for 3 nights in the large suite which is equipped and finished to a very high standard. It was very clean and well looked after and we all (3) enjoyed it. Our welcome was warm, and service throughout of a very good standard. The spa was a real highlight. The river temperature was 20C and being able to swim in that wonderful environment was a bonus. The spa itself and the supporting staff were delightful. Being there in August we had anticiupated that the spa might be crowded- but it is well managed and wasn't. There are a number of comments in TA on the food offering. Provided you are not expecting Michelin standard the kitchen is perfectly fine. The 3 evening meals we had were very good, as was the wine choice. Again breakfast wasn't the best we've experienced over many years of travel, but it certainly wasn't the worst and was perfectly adequate. There are also comments in here regarding the road, which may have disturbed you as they disturbed me. Yes, there is a road - it isn't particularly busy or noisy and from evening onwards only a few cars. It certainly doesn't interrupt the magnificent view across the lake. We are glad that we were not put off coming to Hestraviken by the road comments. And frankly in the new spa area the rooms are removed from the road- so if the road is a concern ask for one of those rooms. The local walks and visit to storre Mosse were excellent.
