Amazing staff. 24 hours reception. Talk to Abdel to know more about the building and the people who lived or worked there. Miranda and jagernath lachmon. Lots of plastic container waste in serving peanut butter, butter and jam. Neat and clean bathrooms and toilets. Quite a different experience in every bath area on different floors. European 2 pin plug functions without an adaptor. 

The best budget option in Paramaribo! Excellent value for money and the location can't be beat. The large balconies on the 2nd and 3rd floors are special places to sit snd read and watch the world go by. I had the double with AC and recommend it after a long, hot, sweaty day of walking around Parbo. Shared shower and bathrooms were kept clean snd I never had to wait to use. Breakfast is sufficient with bread, salami, cheese and peanut butter and jelly (jam) along with tea and coffee. WiFi worked well and only was unavailable for a few hours during my 5 night stay. Shared shuttle minivans to the international airport cost 90 SRD and should be reserved in advance. Credit card machine at guesthouse was not working but I used the "Pay Now" option on Expedia to avoid that problem. Credit cards NOT accepted widely and only a few ATMs work with foreign cards in Parbo, so prepare for that. The nearest mini-markets are "Die Witte Zwann" and "Chyco" to buy water - 5 SRB for 1.5 L and beer for 10 SRD. One recommended place for lunch is the "Rooftop Restaurant" on 4th floor of Ramada hotel, just a 10 minute walk away. River and city views, a pool, good food, and Visa credit cards accepted. The Ogi Japanese restaurant in the Ramada also has all-u-can-eat sushi nights midweek and other specials that make for a nice splurge. The small kiosks on the riverside just 1 minute walk away are great for a Parbo beer - 25 SRB for cold liter bottle - and to sit and read and chat with locals.

I stayed for three weeks in the guesthouse "De Kleine Historie" and had a very nice time. The accommodation is centrally located and everything is within walking distance. Both the rooms and the bathrooms and toilets are very clean. The rooms are basic, but what more could you want for this price. You won't stay in your room in a country as beautiful as Suriname. Only to sleep. The staff was very friendly. Rochelle and Jurgen in particular. I will definitely book my next stay in Suriname again at "De Kleine Historie" !!

The guesthouse lies in a heritage property just 50 m. off the Waterkant. Rooms are well taken care of (even if small, but then this is an old house), shared bathrooms are clean and staff are helpful with advice (renting bicycles, minibuses to the border etc.), breakfast is quite limited, but fine. It can be a bit noisy at night (with the party buses doing rounds and the wood wall building not providing much insulation), so ear plugs are helpful.

Great location in the heart of Paramaribo. The gueshouse is in a very atmospheric traditional wooden building. Nice common area, two balconies. Probably the best budget stay in town.

The matrass wasn’t great. On my own in a double bed was okay, but with two people it probably would have been an issue.

I tried out 3 or 4 budget locations in Paramaribo, but I would never go to any again, after getting to know de kleine historie. Not only do I like the idea with the room names and the  little history course, but also the staff is very helpful and the little patio and the verandas are good to hand out. on top there is now a new café next door that belongs to the guesthouse. So now it is easy to get food/drinks to very reasonable prices.

What I liked best about this place is their common veranda (balcony) where you can sit and watch the street life go by. The building is historic and full of character... except the rooms which are a little basic. It is in the historic part of town near the river with a row of inexpensive eateries, great for a morning/evening walk. 

Some staff clearly needed re-training. One of them yelled for me for the ground floor to come down as to pay extra as she made a mistake... lady, I don’t work for you, you don’t get to summon me like that.

Pictures are very different from reality... could be much nicer. 
I paid $25 a night, while all other gusts paid for the same room, just $15
Found out at the last day, so did not even complained. 
Rooms are VERY small and basic ! 
Absolutely no information is available ! 
I have asked a few people, but no one knows anything, they told me to go out to ask.
Maybe the owner know something, but he was not there most of the time. 
Washing a few T - shirts was $8 more expensive then in Japan... 
Simple o.k breakfast was included. 
The best thing about this place is the good shower. good water pressure. 
No table or chair in the room, nowhere to put anything...
Sent them a few messages, a couple of days before my arrival, no one ever answered
