I stayed here for 2 weeks during a volunteering trip.  I was in a shared room. The rooms are basically furnished, but perfectly adequate for our purpose. Muzzy nets are provided which was fab. 
It was very hot and humid even at night time. Often, the ceiling fan did little more than move the hot air around, but then again, this is the climate in Sri Lanka and is part of the experience. 

Our hosts were absolutely lovely. Warm, welcoming, helpful, accommodating. Fluent in English, it was great to have chats with them and find out more about the prawn ponds on site, the local area and life in Sri Lanka in general. We had early starts (at times having breakfast at 5am!) and yet our lovely hosts were up before us, had breakfast ready for us (fresh fruit, fresh toast, omelette made to order) and welcomed us warmly each day. 
We often had dinner here as well and it was authentically cooked food which was flavoursome and plentiful

Really enjoyed our stay here and felt very comfortable here.

Great stay indeed - home away from home

Stayed here as part of a volunteering project, the organisers chose here because they knew we'd be well looked after and they weren't wrong. 
The family are so welcoming and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. They spoke brilliant English, had our breakfast ready at 5am every morning to fit in with our schedule even though they'd been up late serving us dinner and clearing up afterwards (while we went to bed) and always greeted us with smiles, were available to open/shut the gate behind us any time we wanted to come in or out, booked Tuk Tuks for us to visit the local area in our spare time and gave us their mobile number so when we were ready to return they could organise us a trusted Tuk Tuk to collect us (&do so in the local language).
 Kumari is the best cook ever - the only downside to this was as I'm not usually a curry fan I didn't think I would like the food and thus had intentions of loosing weight......instead all the food she cooked was amazing and I ate far too much (aided by the fact they keep refilling the serving dishes while your eating) and even with the amount of walking we did as part of our volunteering I put weight on.
As mentioned on other reviews the rooms were warm but this is the same anywhere in Sri Lanka unless you stay in a tent with mesh sides or pay a premium for air con and being from the cold U.K. it is more noticeable but then the warm weather is the reason we go abroad, I still managed to sleep and didn't find it as hot as my room on a previous trip to South Africa.

Amazing Hosts

Except for the great view and very clean, my experience here was not that good. With poor ventilation, we sweat through the night. It is so hot in here, so take off all your clothes. The wifi connection is also very slow unless you sit near the lobby (office).

Drop it like its hot!

I have just spent a month in Sri Lanka and ended up spending five of those days here. I only planned to spend about two but the owners are quite simply the best people I met in Sri Lanka. They looked after me, they allowed me to leave some of my clothes whilst I was travelling, they cooked the best food I have ever tasted, and they showed me around the local area in their own time. The owner, Travice is a legend! He makes great tea, but stay away from his arrack! Kumari is definitely the best cook in Sri Lanka, and VJ will happily climb up into the trees to get you a coconut. Rebecca and Vinodeka are the sweetest girls I have ever met and I hope they read this and come visit me in Scotland! 

The best family in Sri Lanka! 

The Sachal Mir's is a lovely and peaceful place to rest at after or before a long flight. The charming family will greet you as a member of their family and you really don't want to leave.
The place is right by the lagoon far from the noice in Negombo town. Rooms are very clean and have got what you need for the stay.Breakfast is good and you can order other food. The curry (what 
ever your choice is) is cooked the way you prefer and is served and refilled until hou roll down the stairs from the restaurant to your room.
To get there, take the bus from Negombo for 25 rupees or a three wheeler for 500 rupees.
