We stayed for 5 nights with Sharmila. This is a stylish house with many interesting features. The location is out of the hubbub of Kandy so it’s peaceful and calm but Sharmila will arrange tuks, taxis etc at local prices. She organised a driver for us to visit Dambulla, Sigiriya, and a spice garden and we had a brilliant day. Our room was spacious and clean with a comfortable bed and always hot water for showers, and nothing was too much trouble for Sharmila. There’s a pretty balcony where you can eat. 
We asked for the cookery demonstration and the food which Sharmila produced was of an exceptional standard. Seriously if you’re interested in food as a cook or just in eating it, I don’t think you will ever have better Sri Lankan food. We were sorry to leave and can’t recommend this wonderful lady highly enough. 

Beautiful home, wonderful hostess

We stayed three nights at the Kandy Grand Paradise, and can highly recommend it. The house is super spacious, and the room was spotless. It is situated in a quiet neighborhood in the Hills around Kandy, about 10-15 min by Tuktuk to the center of town. The hostess can arrange transportation to and from town and pickup from the station if needed, very convenient to have your tuktuk driver picking you up in town! She was also very helpful with organising a taxi to our next destination. The Sri Lankan breakfast she prepared was the best we had during our trip, absolutely delicious and not to miss!!!!!

Nice and quiet place to stay in Kandy

We stayed 3 nights but wished we could stay more with lovely Shayamala. Spotless rooms very comfortable beds in quiet location :5 mins from Kandy...it was great to be able to escape the bustle. As previous reviews, food is simply  amazing with Shayamala giving us the full SR culinary experience and cookery lesson. Nothing was too much trouble, arranging drivers and giving us advice about places to visit. We cannot recommend highly enough. Thank you Shayamala

Absolute gem

We were there in August 2017, so this review is a little late. But still I would like to write it. The house is amazing. Everything was clean, the room was nice and Shamila is a very warm and friendly person. It felt like being home. She is a very good cook. The food was great, in fact it was one of the best food we had in Sri Lanka. I hope we will have the chance to visit again one day.

Very nice place and friendly host

Booked here based on many reviews of the food and location, both of which are great. The place is a 5 minute tuk-tuk away from the hustle and bustle of Kandy, and the hosts food is brilliant and the flavours are incredible. The balcony is also a highlight which provides great views of the local area and to the amazing birdlife. 

However, I appreciate that a lot of places in Sri Lanka suffer from damp, obviously from the heat and humidity but Kandy Grand Paradise seemed a lot worse than many other places. Our room was particularly damp and smelly and it seemed like it needed some TLC. I think if I was coming to Kandy again, I would possibly choose somewhere else but everything else was really good.

Good food and hospitality, but a bit damp!

Very friendly staff who tries to make your stay as good as possible. Great views due to the location in the hills. Rooms are decent, however bit moist due to the climate and building quality. Further, room was not cleaned after our first night.

Decent stay

We had the most fantastic stay in Kandy Grand Paradise! What makes this place so special is the host, Charmalia, she is so kindhearted and goes above and beyond to make your stay the best it can be. The food she cooked was also the best we had in Sri Lanka!! I would definitely recommend staying here!
