Mangrove Villa is a paradise,  in front of the Bentota river. It's the perfect place to rest, heal, improve ones knowledges and expériences of yoga. 
I receive a full body massage in a semi covered room. My therapist was very good and friendly. You can here the nature around, and it's fresh. 
The huge veg and fruits garden is a plus. 
I got the choice between rooms : bungalow, and a new house with double room n attached bathroom, balcony with river view. I stayed in this one. I spent an amazing time looking at the river n beautiful garden, chill out on the balcony or in the garden. Quiet, ressourcing.



Amazing experience

This is a very calm place in river side. The yoga classes, massages, talks and the food everything was amazing.  Very helpful staff. The facility is also very nice. i got a river view room. I want to thank everyone and will definitely be back for some more healing.

Simply Amazing place

Terrible place i visited so far, the place not nice as shown in photos. Even not maintenances. Not provided d water for room, when i requested water bottle for the room they have charged for it. Very money minded people.

I had many issues while staying here and the management were not interested in resolving any of these. Overall the management is unprofessional and arrogant.

The general level of cleanliness is very poor, mosquito nets are filthy and torn. 

There is no safety procedures or appliances visible anywhere on the property.

I had an issue in the middle of the night the manager did not respond until the next morning and even then it was only via messenger.  It’s an all male staff environment and that shows in the lack of attention to detail.

Windows don’t close properly.

This property is way past it’s best and would not pass any Health & Safety Regulation. There are decorative wooden bars on all the windows so only one entry/exit point from the rooms. 

Yoga mats are thin and filthy and I mean bad. 😱

The food was very good and the cook made the meals interesting and would engage with you to give you the right balance of spices. There is no menu choices so I did not like everything but that is only to be expected.  

Genuinely this place is worse than backpacking hostels.  

NOT A SAFE PLACE FOR SINGLE FEMALE TRAVELLERS

This is my 14th day of a 21 day Detox Yoga Retreat. This place is wonderful! Very helpful and friendly staff, personalized yoga class 5 days a week, daily treatments as prescribed by Aryuvedic doctor, delicious organic meals, spacious room with hot water shower. Set on the river with a river view from my veranda, this hotel is marvelous! 
I’m here on a 3 week package but nightly rooms are available as well. Price includes treatments, meals, yoga and room and is no more than average area room for the night!

Yoga and Aryuvedic Retreat

The surroundings are absolutely magnificent. Very peaceful and relaxing. The rooms are very spacey and the beds are comfortable. The whole staff wanted to make you feel at home. The yoga sessions were wonderful as they were adapted to every level. The food was delicious and adapted to your preferences (vegan, vegetarian,..). At last the massages were top-notch. A true 5 star, would definitely recommend.

Ayurveda retreat

I myself am a respected Yoga Instructor from the UK, I warn anyone to think twice about staying at Mangrove Villa, especially if you are female travelling alone. Do your research and stay somewhere reputable, I wish I had. Myself and another guest whilst participating in yoga class both had a significant amount money stolen from our rooms from whoever was doing the housekeeping (there are only 3 members of staff onsite). 
The villa Manager, a quite arrogant man with money on his mind by the name of Roshan de Silva remains in complete denial of the situation. They certainly don't follow the ethical guidelines of 'ASTEYA' non stealing. 
The place is far out from anywhere, it's falling apart nothing like the photos, broken sink, cockroaches in the bathroom, birds nesting in the roof dropping faeces into the room, and poor quality food-certainly not Ayurvedic, electricity cutting out every so often leaving you with no aircon or internet access to the outside world for hours. Tours are overpriced again just lining his own pockets.
Perhaps Mr [-] will use some of the money stolen from customers to pay for these repairs or maybe it will go towards funding his European holiday this summer.
Good luck to your business you thieves. I certainly won’t be recommending my own yoga clients to your so called retreat.This place needs to be closed down for good, I felt very unsafe staying here especially on the last night once the other guest had left knowing that someone had access to my room. I couldn't wait to leave.

DON’T STAY HERE If the mosquitoes don’t bleed you dry, the Villa owner certainly will!

The setting is absolutely gorgeous. ideal for total relaxation or there are opportunities to take tourist trips. The rooms are spacious with a hot shower and comfortable beds. Some of the food is delicious although some is a bit too stodgy for my liking (not many vegetables). Throughout the week, the yoga teacher built up the sessions to make them more challenging. The massages were really good quality but no other ayrvedic treatments were offered.
This is a great place to stay if you're interested in sampling yoga/ayrveda whilst exploring other activities in Sri Lanka.
There was a lack of customer service for my expectations. Ayrvedic treatments and food were lacking (chocolate biscuits is not ayrvedic), and the doctor talked at me for 45mins without listening to me or offering any advice. After confirming that I was vegetarian, I was given chicken one evening.

Tranquil location with basic Ayurvedic experience

I spent a week at Mangrove villa in July and I had a wonderful time ! Everything was well organized and perfect.The place is beautiful, rooms comfortable, the food is delicious and the hosts are extremely friendly and attentive.
I really enjoyed the early morning classes, ayurvedic massage sessions and the ayurvedic doctor is very experienced.
Staying at Mangrove villa is the perfect chance to switch off, relax and get all the ayurvedic medicine benefits.
I'll be back one day for sure and can't recommend this place highly enough.

Hospitality at his best !

Mangrove Villa was a very tranquil experience, surrounded by nature and no distractions of city life.
Roshan, the host, was very accommodating and took the time to get to know more about my story and why I was there. He went above and beyond the responsibility of hosting me and the experience was generally really relaxing. Just what I needed...
