Rural Costa Salada

I loved this little hotel! We were looking for somewhere unique and authentic, not a tourist resort on the beach. It's the perfect serene escape. The hotel offers breakfast and dinner, and the staff were incredible. I have celiac disease and as soon as we checked in and I asked about options on their menu, they went out to a local store and got me gluten free bread for breakfast. Then for dinner, they made me a chicken and rice, off the menu, to make sure I had a gluten-free option. Extremely accommodating! Our waiter was so friendly and gave us great restaurant recommendations for the next night, and tips on preparing to see the volcano. We slept like babies every night listening to the water hit the rocks. The only thing to note is that it's a slightly outdated hotel, the beds were a little old and I could feel the springs in the mattress, but it hardly mattered because the ocean puts you right to sleep. It was neat to drive through old plantain farms (now papaya farms!) to get to the hotel, but you definitely need to rent a car. There isn't anything nearby that's walkable. We loved this hotel and experience, and if we can make it back to Tenerife, we will be staying here again :)
