Great location, close to restaurants , bars , cathedral and  the historical centre.
La Caleta beach is within walking distance. Many more beautiful beaches are s short drive away .
Eva the receptionist is amazing , so helpful and friendly! She mDe our stay very special .

Great gem in old town Cadiz

This is a small, family run place in a great location for a reasonable price. The daughter Eva has very good english (the parents not so much, but all were very nice and helpful). Eva gave us a map, and marked places of interest. Our room was a bit small with 2 beds. The en-suite bathroom was very nice. I believe some rooms may not be en-suite.The air conditioning worked fine and the room was fairly quiet. The place was spotlessly clean. There restaurants and shops within a 10 minute walk. The hostal is about a 10-15 minute walk from the bus/train station. When we mentioned we were morning tea drinkers, Eva put out a kettle and tea bags. Overall, a pleasant experience.

Overall Very Nice

I travelled with my 15 year old son to see the sights of Cadiz. Hostel Colon was the perfect place to stay.The girl at reception was fantastic. She spoke great English and advised on good restaurants, good value for money, things to see and do, could not have been more helpful. Room was small but spotlessly clean but had everything you need including air-con. Brilliant location in the middle off the old town, excellent value for money, would not hesitate to stay here again or to recommend it to anyone.

3 days in Cadiz

We had a great few days at this small hotel right in the heart of the city.  What really makes this place special is the helpfulness and kindness of the people who work there.  Special mention to Eva who was great at telling us where, what, and when to eat.  Our room was very comfortable and the roof terrace a great place for a beer looking out at the roof of the cathedral.  Take their advice as to which bars and flamenco to go to and you'll have a super time.

Had a Fantastic Stay

When we arrived we found out that our credit card did not go through during the initial booking from home.  Despite this Eva still held the room for us and offered to notify subsequent stops that we were still coming in case they had the same problem with our credit card. Eva and her mother were excellent hostesses, giving us information about walking tours and directing us to a wonderful Flamenco concert nearby.  The accommodations were spacious and comfortable.

An excellent place to stay!

This is a hidden gem on a quiet, narrow street in Cadiz but close to a square (with shops and restaurants).  It is not far from the bus station and close to all the things to see and do in the old city.  The young woman who greeted us spoke English fluently and was very helpful with suggestions of restuarants and things to see.  Our room was clean and quiet, although it was a few floors up (no elevator, but this is clearly stated on their property description when booking).   We enjoyed Cadiz and this place played a part in our wonderful experience here.

Great Place, Great Stay

We arrived in Cadiz on a road trip thinking it would be easy to get a room however we didnt realise that the same week was an official holiday for Spain and a big party was to be had therefore any room was in dire shortage having been booked in advance by the visiting spaniards.    We were on the verge of having to pay a ridiculous amount for a nights stay in one of the bigger (Very Posh) hotels when we thought we would try this place as a last resort - they had one room left with facilities but we had to get there within 10 mins as there were many people interested - well this was fun as if you have ever been to Cadiz you will find out how easy it is to get lost in the back streets but to our relief we indeed did find it.
The room was on the 3rd (top) floor which was a bit of a struggle with a suitcase (no lift in these type of places) but it was spotlessly clean, with twin beds and an on-suite bathroom with enclosed shower cubicle.
The young lady at reception was lovely and so helpful, as were all the other staff (family) that we came into contact with over our 2 night stay.  
As I said the room itself was spotless, the air con was really good, it was quiet and the shower power was amazing - small toiletries were available too as in all other hotels.
The roof terrace is small, has plenty of seating and offers amazing views over the roof tops of the streets although it was very hot up there, an umbrella would have been good to sit under - if we had been staying longer I would have asked if one was available but as we didnt really want to spend time up there I didnt bother.
The hotel is in a side street which is very close to all the main area's its in a brilliant location.   There is car access to drop off and pick up but I dare you to find your way around the streets to find it! :)
There are plenty of car parks, but they are expensive and there are also areas on the streets that you can buy a ticket for - there is one car park over by the old dock area that is cheaper per day but we found a space behind the railway station and left the car there, no ticket machine, no attendant and the car was ok - not a good place for you to walk on your own though in the dark so as long as its in the daytime your leaving and collecting there is no problem.
Cadiz is worth a visit, its amazing as a city and also the beach, this was a lovely surprise.   We will definitely be visiting again and if possible will be booking to stay again at Hostal Colon

Last minute booking  - so happy to have found this Hostal

We stayed here for 2 nights in week before Semana Santa and I can recommend it as a very comfortable, clean and central hostal. We had an en suite room on first floor which while small, had everything you need and was quiet at night. Eva who runs it with her husband was very helpful and responded quickly to any queries. A good, inexpensive and central choice in Cadiz.

Central, clean and good value.

We hadn't booked anything and Cadiz was unusually full so we ended up at a hostel which I never thought I would.  How wrong could I be. Th elady who booked us couldn't speak English and we can't speak Spanish but she tried really hard to help us with local places of interest.  Her daughter who was fluent soon arrived and couldn't be more helpful. The room was basic but clean and the hotel is situated very centrally. Would definitely stay again.
