Barceló Castillo Royal Level

Thankfully I didn’t read the reviews prior to booking and just went on my instincts having passed this hotel in previous years and I am so glad I did. It’s faultless and well worth paying the extra for Royal Level A1 from the food - drinks - to cleaning staff were exceptional. The star of the show was for us is the wonderful gentleman who runs EL Ancla restaurant (looks like Clark Kent with the glasses) he kindness and hospitality shone through along with his attention to detail . The family royal level is based down by the port harbour with its white sofas and bars -restaurants and relaxed entertainment more DJ sets and singers gave a massive Ibiza vibe to the place . The food is exceptional and all to such a good quality we actually only ate out once and that was only as I love a Kobe steak when visiting this island! The rooms are fresh and spacious it did at first feel a tad odd have the loo and sink in the bedroom with a frosted door but after a few days it didn’t bother us at all. The other thing is we had a room with a “ hot tub - jacuzzi which is actually a whirlpool bath but again not an issue as you can sunbath on the beds provided with each room and cool off with a dip in the bath Fresh towels for sunbathing - slippers and robes along with a free well stocked mini bar to start - replenished daily with fresh water was a great touch. Our only grip was the gentleman receptionist on the royal level who clearly forgot his job role and was quiet short and rude in answering our questions on check in and because of this we had to go back and speak to a normal receptionist on the front desk who couldn’t have been kinder . I honestly think he maybe needs some cross exposer in one of the restaurants or bars to brush up on his customer service skills.
