We heard great vreviews on this property so it was our first choice in jeju. However other than staying in a traditional house with a garden, nothing else we find exciting. The place was smacked in some residential village, mostly orchard or farm houses. There was a restaurant but it was closed. Thank god we drove so we had to drive 20 minutes to nearby town for food. Just architecture and the heated floor we find interesting. The service staff were trying hard to communicate using a translation app. They were polite but we did not feel any welcome. We notice service was not found on most establishments in jeju. People just serve you a coffee if you order...no greetings no thank you. Just very different part of the world. Only welcome were felt at another pension and the ocean suites hotel. Throughout our 5 days, we felt  there was a lack of the service attitude we are familiar with. There is no need to stay here as you do have many choices. Perhaps it was winter and everything including restaurant seems to have shut down, including service.

Good Hanok Stay Experience but...

We stayed at Kasan Tobang for three nights over New Year at the shared house with shared bathroom. The room was cozy and really well appointed. The architecture in the resort is very thoughtfully designed and extremely comfortable. Alex, the manager, speaks English very well and gave us some really helpful suggestions. Amazing experience. We will definitely come again. Breakfast is abalone porridge - an interesting experience for us. However it would be a distinct advantage to have a car. We unfortunately did not have an international driver's license which is required for Europeans to rent a car in Korea but will obtain one before our next visit.  We relied on taxis and buses, a taxi from Kasan Tobang to Seogwipo is more or less 7,000 won. Finding Kasan Tobang can also be a bit of a challenge for the drivers.

Very comfortable stay - amazing experience

We stayed 3 nights in the traditional house, and it was a memorable experience for my family.  The place was clean, well-equipped (we booked a two-unit house with connecting rooms) and comfy.  The toilet light was not working next morning, and it was fixed immediately when I alerted the owner Alex, who was very responsive. No problems with communication at all, Alex speaks English perfectly.  It would have been good if there was a convenient store nearby where we could get some supplies -- this was the only issue we had, as the place was really quiet.  Overall, it was a very good experience staying at Kasan Tobang.

Tranquil get-away in traditional style

When we first arrived at Kasan Tobang, we were mesmerized by its beautiful surrounding and peaceful environment. We stayed at the Deluxe Double with Private Bath room which is just nice for 2 person. Due to the cold weather, we appreciated the warm flooring in the room. The toilet was relatively small but is self sufficient. The room is equipped with hairdryer, kettles, cups, television, towels and complimentary waters. 

As we were not used to sleeping on futon, we had aching back after our first night. We requested for an extra futon which made us sleep more comfortably for the other nights.   

Unfortunately for us, the restaurant was under renovation during our visit in April 2017. There is a convenient shop (10am to 10pm) opposite of Kasan Tobang and you can buy cup noodles or some basic necessities there. As there was no restaurant within its near vicinity, the staffs kindly assisted us to book a taxi whom brought us to its nearest city (around 7000 won which is reasonable for its distance). She even recommended us to a black pork restaurant, Tae Hyang, which became the best meal for our whole Korea trip. As for breakfast, the delicious abalone porridge was normally served from 830am to around 930am, 

The service counter will be closed from 11pm and reopened at around 8 to 9 am. However, you can call its manager (i believe it's Alex) anytime during these period. As we checked out relatively early in the morning and the counter was closed, we were told to simply put our keys in the room. 

We truly enjoyed this memorable experiences with Kasan Tobang and would like to thank all of the helpful and kind staffs for it! :)

Surreal & Lovely Stay!

We stayed in Deluxe Double room with private bathroom. The room is very unique, very traditional. Room is spacious and we slept on Japanese futon. Staff is very friendly and the traditional porridge for breakfast is nice. The hotel compound is rather huge, with nice gardens. Location is not that good, with no convenient store / market nearby. Recommended only for those who drives, which they provide free parking.
