Thank you, Conrad and Danny for going out of your way to make our family vacation so comfortable and one we will remember. We loved Loerie cottage. Really spacious and ideal for eight people.

The setting is lovely, we could just relax, enjoy and unwind.

Great people at Birdsong Cottages makes holiday one to remember

The owner of the place Johann Scholtz is such a great person. We felt like we own the whole place. The view at night and in the morning is so amazing. Indeed we really enjoyed our selfs at Birdsong Cottages.

Treatment & Accomodation

The place is nice,good atmosphere what needs to be improved is buying new beds,beds aren't that comfortable. Employees are welcoming and nice they always check on you,the environment is clean no smell.

Nice place as seen online

We enjoyed our stay, the place is absolutely beautiful and quite, exactly what we needed, the people are friendly very accommodating, we saw the animals, it was an amazing experience, would definitely come back. 

Good place

Staying at the Loerie house at Birdsong Cottages on New Years Eve was lovely, secluded in the bush and the house was clean and modern. We will definitely be going back this year! Johann the owner was also so helpful and friendly! 

Great Getaway

We had a lovely stay at Birdsong, relaxing jacuzzi, the most beautiful birds on our doorstep, night times around the fire and a cute little cabin to go with it. 

Lovely people who recently bought the place, working hard to create a warm welcoming experience for new visitors.

In the heart of the bushveld

Initial service was good, but it has been a struggle to get the breakage deposit back. 

Security seems to be an issue (the establishment was burgled recently, and the owner's electronic devices were stolen from next to her bed. 

The photos on the website does not match reality ... the other units have been upgraded, but not the Kingfisher unit, which is old and needs attention.

Good beginning, but ...

We decided to do a quick booking and booked at least 24 hours in advance. Upon arrival, there was a locked gate and no mobile phone reception. We drove to the main road and was able to call the booking company. We now had a code for the gate, and our booking confirmed. When we arrived, nobody we informed of our booking. nevertheless an hour later we had a place to stay. 

The views are stunning, beautiful nature, and a little cottage, which we were very happy about. 

The kitchen was poorly equipped, not even a salad bowl to use. Sadly. Somewhere the shower lost a door, so I could not keep all the water inside. The views are stunning, there is a splash pool that is super nice. 

The unit we had is definitely not for older people as there are stairs and stairs, BUT I presume there are other units that will be suitable. There is a chapel on the premises, and if there is a bit more attention it could be a fantastic venue.
The place is in need of some TLC, some small issues that is easy to solve

It could have been.......

The place was not as clean as we would have loved for the duration of outlr stay, spider webs everywhere of which I think they were supposed to be removed before we got there, every room ceiling even inside the bed... 

Our linen on the other hand was dirty had stains on it, trash was never collected yet we are supposed to pay for that when they were not doing their job.

The place has a lot of potential it very quiet which I loved most about it but overall we never received what was promised to us.

Birdsong

Everything from booking to arrival was great. When we arrived the rooms had stench smells, linen was stained , pool had toads, the jacuzzi was dirty and never cleaned (though we were promised it would be on 2 occasions). Daily upkeep of the trash and supplies was not done , we were told only at arrival that we would have to pay to get our rooms cleaned, bedding was not changed for the 5 days we stayed there. The bathrooms and showers we clogged and leaking. 

the only reason I gave a 2 star is because we planned for a bush getaway and that's what we got. We made the trip lovely and memorable for ourselves despite all these disappointments. 

Lack of communication and hospitality from the management. Overall I appreciate that the owner's son was kind enough to assist us with restocking our supplies when we were about to run out. 

I wouldn't recommend this place in the near future, maybe after 2 years when they have actually done some work to the place, but it has the same issues their previous guests complained about though they claim to be under new management that is revamping - no sign of revamping was there. It's a shame because this is a beautiful establishment with great potential!!!
