13 reviewsI am so glad that we chose to stay in Ambre d'Hotes for our 10-day stay in Dakar. It is much better than staying in the city centre seeing how easy and cheap it is to get everywhere by taxi. We were afforded so many kindnesses by the staff who went out of their way to be helpful and accommodating. The rooms are spotlessly clean and comfortable. After our return from Niokola-Koba I found that I had been moved to the room called "Bronze" which is really a suite with a balcony; this was done simply to make us feel as welcome as possible. Because we had transport booked for the evening of our departure, since they weren't booked Aliette allowed us to use our rooms for the whole of our last day which made a huge difference to our comfort. The hotel has a lovely garden area with large enclosed seating spaces and a bird table and fountain so you can watch the flame finches coming and going. There is also a large indoor lounge. Breakfast is simple and excellent and allows the opportunity to get to know the other guests. Although we didn't avail ourselves of this, the hotel will also cook you meals on request. Attached to the hotel is a shop selling African art, jewellery and clothes at much better quality and lower prices than you'll find in the street markets. There are further lovely art works distributed all over the hotel and in the rooms.
