Oktyabrskaya Hotel

Good price, huge room with a beautufil bathroom. It is in the city center. Breakfast is okay. The lady who welcomed me in the evening spoke good English. The one who farewelled didn't. But still I had no problem. They all do their best and it is enough.

Good price

We arrived late at night: the entrance door was closed and we had to woke up the personnel.

Room: we got a suit of average quality, it was spacious (even void) and not super-clean. Curtains are not heavy enough and it is hard to sleep with the day-light. The jacuzzi in the bathroom did not work properly. Nevertheless, I slept quite well.

Service: got a price 20% higher than expected, but after the whole day of driving it was not important. Personnel have no idea about hospitality business, so you need to be a little rude to make them work. In the morning the maid start speaking loudly in the corridors.

Location is good, in the very center. 
All in all it can be a lot better for such price.

Excellent location vs. mediocre quality

We checked-in here after leaving (after 1 night) the apartment that we were supposed to stay during our trip in Kursk. The location of this hotel was very convenient to us as it was nearby Kursk State Medical University. One could say it is centrally located as shops are all nearby. The ladies at the reception, despite not speaking English were very helpful to my sister (acting as our translator). There was a lady that served part time at the reception, she actually worked at a travel agent office nearby & could speak good english. Interior of the hotel is very good. There's a small corner next to the reception selling souvenirs. Room wise everything worked well. Bed & mattress  and linen was clean. TV & shower was working in good condition. During our stay here there was not many guests around (I wonder where did the other families stayed at) & there was on-going renovation. The exterior/outside of the hotel needs a fresh layer of paint. I think this probably will/have took place after the interior renovation work is completed. Don't judge a book by its cover, although this hotel looked old & weary on the outside, it was surprisingly clean & fresh in the inside. It was also very quiet at night, no problem with noise.
