Rodellos Bed & Breakfast

As everyone who has been to Manila knows traffic in the city is Horrific. I have spent over 3 hours in a cab to travel a few kilometers. So at the end of my vacation in Koronadal, South Cotabato, I flew back to Manila for a couple of days and decided to get a hotel close to the airport and chose Rodellos Bed and Breakfast in Paranaque. It is about a 15 minute drive to the airport. How anyone can write a bad review of this Hotel is beyond the scope of my understanding. Sure, it is not a 5 star hotel and there are a limited number of channels on the TV but the simple rooms are large, very clean and my King size bed was very comfortable. The aircon blows cold and is easily adjusted. I chose a room with a shared bathroom and no inconvenience at all. But here is where it gets good! The Staff are amazing. The owners fled the country to live in the United States (Chicago) during the Marcos era and returned in 2011. They and all their staff speak perfect English and the service was incredible. My only complaint was the very small TV in my bedroom and it was replaced for me before I could get back to my room. The big surprise for me was breakfast. Bacon and eggs cooked to perfection, accompanied by toast, coffee and orange juice. I spent a delightful evening with Ramir, the owner and Tony (a long term guest from the UK) over a few evening beers and was subsequently invited to New Years Eve dinner with them at the Hotel. There is an adjoining Spa and Hair Salon. The hotel is in the center of town but you must tell your taxi driver to go to Phase 1 or you may have some difficulty finding the hotel. Overall this Hotel was the most pleasant and surprising part of my month long vacation. I will certainly come back to visit my new friends.
