During the Carnival break, we enjoyed a week at this holiday park in Kootwijk. We know the park quite well, have been here before so we knew what to expect. The park is small in size and was built by Centerparcs in 1975. Centerparcs sold the park which is now owned by Hogenboom Vakantieparken.

The original cottages are still there and look somewhat tired and outdated. However, newer cottages were built and we rented a newer one for 6 people that included 3 double bedrooms and a sauna.
Although the cottage was classified as luxurious we considered the cottage quite basic but happy we chose this type of accommodation compared to an older cottage.

Since the park is small in size there is a small swimming pool that includes a slide, whirlpool, outdoor swimming, etc. Our children enjoyed the evening opening hours, the swimming pool was open until 22:00. There is also a small bowing alley with two lanes, restaurant and you can rent bikes. The reception area has a small area with some groceries but best to bring along your food basics and go to a supermarket in the area (Harskamp, Barneveld, Apeldoorn)

There is a restaurant, we ordered some take away meals one night but were not impressed with the quality of food. However, there are two nearby restaurants in Kootwijk. We went to one of them, Gasterij 't Hilletje and were not disappointed.

The park has a nice location. At the back of the park you walk right on to the Kootwijkerzand, one of the largest areas of open sand in Europe. It is a unique area covering 700 hectares of sand dunes.  We walked to Radio Kootwijk, transmitters which played an important role in the 20th century as a communication facility between the Netherlands and its then colony of Dutch East Indies. We also walked to the Zandloper viewing tower another spot on the Kootwijkerzand. 

For those who would like to enjoy some peace and quiet, this park is ideal. Like I said, the park is somewhat dated but staff is helpful and friendly. We enjoyed a relaxing and quite affordable week.

Older resort but good value for money for those who are after some peace and quiet

Nice place to stay if you are into nature and want to walk a lot around the era you are staying. The houses themselve are a bit outdated espescially the bath room but we ordered a house with sauna and that made it worth going over there. 

The swimming pool isn't that pig but still we always stayed from around 1300 until 1700 or even 1800. It's possible to order french fries or another snack in the swimming era. Once outside the swimming pool there isn't a dome with all places to eat. This one only has one restaurant with a bowling era and a small luna park. 

But you know when ordering that this is a small venue. Nevertheless, we enjoyed it. Better to make your own food in the house, 'cause you need a car to take you to the small center,walking is too dangerous because you have to walk on the road. 

Shopping era is a 20 minute ride and to get your food it's a 15 minute drive.

There's free wifi in the houses but be warned, only 4 people cab log in in a 6 house and 8 in a 10 house....
