If you want an authentic experience, I highly recommend Bardia Kingfisher Resort. Jack, Pratap, and family are fantastic!!  I ended up staying 2 extra days and sure am glad I did - saw a tiger on my original departure day!!  So worth it.  

My inquiries were responded to very quickly.  From the time I arrived at Nepalgunj airport to my departure, I was completely cared for and couldn’t ask for anything more. 

The jungle experiences (walking and jeep safari) and feeling like part of the family can’t be beat. My meals, prepared by Anju (Pratap’s wife) were incredible - I want cooking lessons next time.  

Accommodations are comfortable (not luxury) and very reasonably priced! 

And there’s no one I’d rather be with in the jungle than Jack.  Thank you for an such an amazing experience - looking forward to my next visit!

Absolutely amazing!

It's hard to know where to even begin with this incredible place! Even before we arrived it was so easy to contact the resort with quick replies; they even kindly helped us sort our transport from Kathmandu so all we had to do was show up at the bus station and they dropped us right at the resort. We had originally booked to stay for 5 nights and booked an extra week after about an hour of arriving; that is how instantly welcome you are made to feel. It felt more like a homestay than anything with the family who live here opening up every part of their life to you while allowing you to get on with your own thing if that's what you want. The rooms themselves are extremely good for what you pay; a comfortable bed with a mosquito net and your own bathroom with shower and toilet. I was extremely ill when I arrived with a stomach infection and I can't thank them enough for their help over those three days, they gave me all natural remedies and cooked special meals for me to help fight the infection and get my strength back and it worked within days. The actual jungle tours were nothing short of incredible. Our guide Jack was so knowledgeable about every aspect of the jungle and has some very fun stories, you can tell how passionate and respectful he is about the jungle and all of it's animals. We saw 2 rhino's on our first day and thanks to Jack's tracking skills we saw a long sighting of a rhino and even a tiger on the second day! We can't recommend these safaris enough, it was an experience we will never forget whether it be with Jack or his brother who is just as passionate. Outside of the tours there are some lovely walks right at your doorstep through the traditional village with stunning views and very friendly villagers. We've never stayed somewhere more peaceful. If you want an authentic stay while you're in Nepal and are interested in wildlife and nature this is the only place to come. We were there for 3 days. Good food supplied. Not expensive rate for rooms. There are many lodges there with same facilities and 4 times the rate.

From the moment we landed at Nepalganj until we went back to Kathmandu we had a great time.
Everything was possible!
Even our pick up from the airport!
First we did a 3 day camping trip in Bardia National Park.
All arranged by Bardia Kingfisher. The really thought of everything. And also homered our wishes to be the only ones at the trip without any other tourists. Just us and our guide Jack and assistants. After we stayed another couple of days at their resort. It’s a really nice, small place, closest to the gate of the Bardia National Park.
And because it’s runned by family , you really feel right at home. Not like when you are at a bigger place, and you are just another tourist!
We loved it so much , that we ( Pratap, the brother of our guide Jack) changed our flight so we could stay longer. 
They really do everything to make your trip one to remember. We loved being at their place, and in the jungle.
In jungle we had the best guide you can get. He grew up there, and knows everything about the jungle and it’s animals. Normal we travel trough the African reserves on our own, so we know a little about how things work..
But Jack showed us many new things and learned us a lot about the jungle of Bardia and it’s animals. We couldn’t have picked a better guide. And we saw them all; Elephants, Rhinos, Tiger and more! 
So our dream to see these magnificent animals came true!
And we will go back for sure!!

Bardia Kingfisher is a marvelous family run lodge with consistently good home cooked food, strong local roots and the best guide service for Bardia. The owners go out of their way to make guests happy

A great place to stay while visiting Bardia

fantastic time in the jongle - no not a spelling error this is what they call it!
takes 1 day to get there and spend three full days there and one day out.
This allows for a jeep safari a walking safari and a raft safari and each is worth it WOW
Saw 6 tigers (missed no 7) 10 rhinos a mating a wild bull elephant with tusks, crocodiles in the wild a MASSIVE python and birds a plenty (plus heaps of tiger food aka deer,   -   plus monkeys and jackels) Full on fun day after day. these guys love their jongle and will work their butts off to find a tiger for you but do go with their suggestions on how to go about it.
Good spacious room with hot shower good food and flush toilet in a village setting where they still plaster their houses by hand with mud (mozzie screens on the windows and a fan)!!
Family business, great guides.
Have realistic expectations and you will have a ball.

Fun in the jongle

Just a few words about the Kingfisher Resort family, there is truly no better place to stay if you're going to Bardia to experience the Jungle, regardless of whether you'll be there a long time or a short while the Kingfisher Resort is accomodating of all budgets and itineraries. To start, the rooms are very nice with comfortable bedding and a hot shower and the meals/food is amazing. The food is organic and grown at the resort, the menu is diverse and delicious, thank you to the very talented cooks (Prataps Wife)! You were excellent. Aside from the brilliant quality of the resort itself what I really had an affinity for were the people, the family that runs Kingfisher. Such beautiful and talented folks! Very organised, and the guides we had (Pratap, Jack, Mahendra) all had very astute knowledge of the jungle and were experts at navigating. Don't be afraid to ask for anything also. I have so many great things to say about Kingfisher, anyone who is interested should get out there themselves, you will be looked after and your trip will be the best it can be. Thank you to everyone at Kingfisher you were the cherry on top of my trip to Nepal! A big thank you to Pratap for helping us and making sure we were comfortable, you have a lovely wife and son. To Jack and Millin, your children are adorable and I miss you all dearly. I will be back soon.

Experience the Jungle, (the right way), with Bardia Kingfisher Resort

The hotel is located at the main gate of Bardia Natonal Park and offers many wildlife viewing activities. The head guide called Jack is well known for his impressive animal sighting quote. During our stay we were able to find many more tigers than the other groups. All staff members are very friendly and support you in everything. Also, the rooms are still good if you compare them with other operators in that region.

We had a great stay at Kingfisher. The staff are so friendly and helpful, especially Pratap. They were all eager to please and sort out anything we needed. The place is lovely, we enjoyed relaxing and eating our meals on the porch of our cottage. The food was great and available at all times. We did a walking safari and a jeep safari. Didn’t see many of the big animals but still had a great time. Think it wasn’t the best weather for seeing the animals. Anyway, highly recommended!

Fantastic trip

A family run establishment, you'd be hard pressed to find a better place to stay in Bardiya. So very welcoming and the guides are extremely knowledgable about the jungle. From every bird to every animal, they know it all. And how to spot them. Organic veggies from their own garden are a huge bonus and every meal is amazingly prepared and beyond delicious. From the comfort of their  jungle huts to to the incredible hospitality, I couldn't think of a better place to spend my time. Unforgettable experience.
