The location is ideal, not far from the main streets at downtown. The service is great, the day receptionist is very welcoming. The room is cozy, super clean and the bed is comfortable. The breakfast is amazing, they even asked me what I wanted next. I will come back and recommend to everyonw

Excellent Location, Beautiful, Clean

We were very satisfied with our stay in Hotel Balam. The hotel has an excellent location in a quiet street and all the important places are within 5-10 minutes walking distance. The price was very o.k. for what we got. The room was quite small but big enough for what we needed and it was very clean. The only inconvenience was, that it was quite dark, more light would be better, and at the beginning the internet did not work in our room, but later they fixed it. We had some problems with the online payment in order to make a reservation but the staff was very helpful and friendly and made us a reservation even without receiving the deposit in advance. 
If you are looking for privacy (not a hostel dorm with 20 people and a shared bathroom), nice and clean room with bathroom in a central location, it is an excellent option for a good price. In a hostel with a shared bathroom we would have payed the same. I can highly recommend the Hotel Balam and would stay there again.

Nice and clean little hotel very close to the center

Highly recommended - this hotel was a significantly better value than similar properties, and a very pleasant stay.  The location is great - just a few blocks from the main plaza, but quiet at night.  My room did not have an exterior window, but it opened onto the bright inner lobby, which seemed appropriate given the price.  The room was meticulously cleaned and made up daily, and the beds were comfortable.  There was consistent hot water.  Of note, the front door is locked at night, but if you knock the management will come open it immediately.  Front desk staff was always very helpful!

Excellent value; lovely hotel

My husband and I found this delightful small hotel by walking around the neighborhood of the Real Guadalupe walkway.  It was extremely clean and quiet, good value, with friendly, helpful management.  We would definitely return.

Quiet and friendly in the heart of San Cristobal

My boyfriend and me found this place shopping around in San Cristobal de las Casas. We were visiting about 10 different hostels and hotels in order to find a good budget place. The Balam Hotel was the very best option for our budget. This hotel is a little jewel, only five minutes walking distance to the center. The place is very new and super clean. The best is the price though: for our nice room with cable TV, hot shower 24 hours, free Wifi and a little patio we pay less than 20 dollars the night.
